Drive-Thru/Team Member at Chick-fil-A

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Viera, FL Apr 2009 – Reviewed Nov 21, 2012

Interview Details – I had two interviews while most who were applying for the same position at the same time had three. Most people's first interview was in a group, doing a puzzle to show how you worked with others and what position you took within the group. The second was one on one with a manager/operator and the third was mostly to insure you were right and give you the necessary forms.

Cashier at Chick-fil-A

No Offer – Interviewed in Chesapeake, VA Apr 2008 – Reviewed Nov 6, 2012

Interview Details – My first interview was very casual- the manager met with me, offered me a drink and we sat in the food court and talked. It took him a while to get to me so I had to awkwardly wait in the middle of the food court. I did come a bit early though. When he finally got to me, he asked me why I want to work at Chick-fil-a, what experience I have had in the past, and when I would be available.

Team Member at Chick-fil-A

No Offer – Interviewed in Atlanta, GA – Reviewed Oct 23, 2012

Interview Details – I first saw an hiring ad on craig's list for the Chik Fil A at Lenox mall, I then send my resume to the email address that was provided. About a week later I received a phone call so that an interview could be scheduled. We did and my interview was on a Wednesday at about 4 o clock. When I arrived and saw some of the other employees I thought they looked UN-groomed and just unappealing which was a shocker because usually Chick Fil A employees have a nice, well kept, approachable look. So I was thinking are you serious ? I have this in the bag !
Any who, so I arrived and told them I was there for a 4 o clock job interview so they went and got the HM. When he came out I was actually shocked he was young and seemed very down to earth. Of course we were in the food court so he suggested that we moved to a more secluded area (we moved to another table in the food court) .
The interview went really smooth. At the end of the interview he told me that I would most likely be working in the front on the cash register, he said that he liked my personality, and my competitiveness. He then beginning to explain how a lot of the old employees would be getting replaced because there would be new management and they probably wouldn't make the cut.
He told me that I could either be expecting a call that weekend to start training, or I would be getting a call at the end of the month (This was like the 17th ish) because the new management people may want to re-interview you.
So I waited.. That weekend passed and I didn't get the call. I didn't panic too much I just continued to wait because I was sure the call would come at the end of the month from the new management. By the second week of the next month I still hadn't received a call so I decided to call them myself. I did and when asked to speak to the HM that gave me the interview(I gave his name) the one on the phone told me that he was no longer with them. I then told him the story of how I had interviewed, and was told that I could be expecting a call, etc, etc. But he seemed unmoved, he just replied by saying "I'm looking through the resumes now and if I find you I'll call " (Mind you he didn't ask for my name or anything) So I said well okay thank you and again my name is ______. And that was it. he hung up and I never heard from him again.

Team Member at Chick-fil-A

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Pittsburgh, PA Apr 2011 – Reviewed Oct 20, 2012

Interview Details – I was hired after my first interview, however most team members at my location are required to undergo two interviews. The interview consists of basic, run-of-the-mill questions that are determined to decide whether or not you are organized, well-kept, and a team player. When two interviews are required, the first is usually with the hiring manager, and the second is with the owner/operator of the location. Be prepared to answer why you would like to work for Chick-fil-a. They are looking for a good reason, other than money.

Interview Question – "Describe Your daily routine." I only found this as awkward to answer, not necessarily difficult. It seemed almost an invasion of privacy to answer this question for someone I was unfamiliar with.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation phase. The hourly rate offered was already above minimum wage, and in this industry, at this level, negotiation is unnecessary.

Cashier at Chick-fil-A

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Bowie, MD Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 19, 2012

Interview Details – I was on craiglist and I came across chick fil A open interviews invitation. They where having interviews on that following Wed. and I figured well I need a job I should just try it out. I went to the open interviews that Wed filled out an application and noticed there was like 12 other people waiting around to get interviewed (which made me even more nervous). So I was like the fourth person to get interviewed. They asked me about my old job, what would I do in certain situations, just general questions trying to get to know me. The interview lasted about 20-30 mins.At the end interview the hiring manager told me that if I didn't hear from him within in a week they were not interested. I left feeling not too confident because I didn't have no experience in fast food previously and there was a lot of competition. So that next Monday I got a call saying we want you to come in on that Friday for the second interview. I was excited I came in on that Friday and did my second interview.I was told I was going to get a call by that next Wed but didn't. I was really nervous like I didn't get it the job but I got a call on Friday and saying they accepted me as a cashier....come in and sign some papers. I start training next Tuesday.Im glad the stressing part is over.

Team Member at Chick-fil-A

No Offer – Interviewed in Stillwater, OK Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 8, 2012

Interview Details – I turned in a paper interview on a Thursday. They called me a few days later to set up an interview for the following Thursday. I wore slacks and a nice blouse.

I got there ten minutes early. The cashier told me to take a seat and wait. Then about 5 minutes later, the general manager waved me to a back table.

After I sat down, he asked me about a temporary job I was currently in. He then stopped me and left to check on someone who had an issue. He came back in about five minutes and asked me how much longer I had in my temp job. I told him I had to work the last few gamedays (it's a job at a stadium during gamedays). He then said that we would just stop the interview right there because all of their employees are required to work every gameday. He told me I could re-apply after I was done in the temp job, but I was dismissed.

Interview Question – None. I didn't get to the questions.   Answer Question

Owner/Operator at Chick-fil-A

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Atlanta, GA – Reviewed Sep 27, 2012

Interview Details – CFA uses a very rigorous 12-24 month screening process for selecting Owner/Operators. It is based on the book "Who" by Smart & Street. There are seven stages to the process and each stage has a specific purpose As an example, in the Topgrading stage the interviewers review your educational and employment history in EXTREME detail. They start at high school and work forward to the present. In this stage they are looking for trends - positive and negative.

The interviewers are extremely professional and courteous. They reflect the high value the CFA organization places on valuing the individual. They are very quick to give you the results of your most recent step. They understand that the lengthy nature of their process can be disruptive and they work very hard to minimize that.

This company is a class act.

Interview Question – You told us about leaving Employer A because Employer B made you an "offer you couldn't refuse". But certainly there had to be something at Employer A that wasn't quite as you wanted it to be to make you leave. Can you tell me about that?   View Answer
