Interviewed Dec 2008 in San Jose, CA (took 1 week)
was contacted by a recruiter who found my resume online. Hesitant to deal with me since i was an outstation candidate. But it so happened i was going to be in town around that period and so managed to get an interview scheduled for that period. Walked in and waited for a while before getting to meet the hiring manager. Had a 30 minute one on one that was more of a personality/aptitude test rather than a technical interview. I thought i did a pretty good job but was informed the following day that i was rejected. Luckily i aced another interview the following day at another company. The day after i received a mail that i had actually been selected at cisco and that they mistakenly sent me a rejection letter. But i was happy with the other position and declined the offer.

Interviewed Aug 2008 (took 1+ week)
I applied the position on the company's website, and got an email from the company's HR. Then I was arranged 7 phones interviews in a two-day period. The interviewers are nice and friendly. The questions they asked were not that difficult. I did not get the on-site interview. I was told later my feedback was good, but the job was finally given to an internal transfer.

Interviewed May 2010 (took a day)
Very crazy and disorganized process. Not sure whether problems were with recruiter or company, but appointments kept getting changed and canceled at the last minute. Had difficulty reading people during presentation. Recruiter says that was a problem with others.

Interviewed Mar 2010 (took 2 weeks)
First applied online to the company. A phone interview resulted. The interview began with a few behavioral questions such as my interests in the position and my former jobs. The interviewer asked what I did at my last job and why I left. Then the interview turned to technical questions such as what software I know and worked with. At the end I asked several questions about what he does and the work environment.

Interviewed Jan 2010 (took 3 weeks)
There were 3 interviews, all were technical interviews. I was progressively interviewed by more senior members of the team. My resume was the key to their questions - a candidate must know in great detail all that he/she mentions on the resume. Fundamental protocol knowledge is very important for engineering positions.
The interviewers were very straight-forward and were not trying to play any tricks like doubting by correct answers. They actively explained the project and their expectations.
Later in the hiring process, they were very considerate of the request/s that I made.

Interviewed Dec 2008 (took a day)
For a college co-op (engineering support) position: Manager and senior engineer asked standard questions, and had a short technical quiz/worksheet. Just knowing the basics from lab classes was enough to do very well. I'm already used to thinking outloud to show that I can work out a problem even if I don't really know the answer per say.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Milpitas, CA (took 2 days)
Had couple telephonic conversations about my resume, interests, and to improve my understanding about the position, reporting and the company. Questions on my resume and interests were pretty standard like - What different technologies I have used, Why I wanted to move, What I'm looking forward to work on, My dream job in next 5 yrs, My educational interests etc.
On site interviews were all 1:1 with 4 sr.engineers, 2 dev managers, 1 qa manager, and finally a Sr.Director. Interview was pretty technical and grilling. People were really nice. They were looking at my approach than the exactness of my answers. Their questions were highly adaptive and deeply conceptual.
Interview Questions
What design changes would you suggest to improve the routing-speed?
(After I gave out an answer - )
What else are the alternative ways (Good or Bad) of achieving this? Give the major pros and cons or those approaches.
Something like - A mouse and xxx (maybe tortoise) started running in opposite directions on a 100 mile highway. Mouse made stops for this and that, and some numbers for times-spent. These numbers are some relative to those of tortoise too. The final question is how many times would the mouse have ran each way, before the tortoise completed one round.

Then I got the on-site, several manager/engineer asked me questions about my former job/skill/backgound and so on. And they seemed satisfied with my skill, so eventually I got the job. That is it.
