Cisco Systems Systems Engineer Interview

Posted Jul 12, 2012

Accepted Offer – Reviewed Jul 12, 2012

Interview Details – 4 different interviews from peer level to manager to Sr Mgr
Questions were not technically difficult. More focus on people skills and interest in the position.

Interview Question – My most difficult questions had to do with Unified Communications, Call Manager, because at the time I was a very R&S/Security focused engineer. However I am CCIE certified and I believe this helps a lot as there is less questions of aptitude and more of an attempt to see what kind of adaptive skills and capabilities you have.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Not Difficult. Some back and forth over options, start date. Salary was well over my current salary at the time after bonus/comp taken into account. There is a requirement to sign away all Intellectual property rights developed during time at Cisco that is disconcerting but no way around it.

Other Details - I applied through an employee referral and the process took 1+ week.
