Interviewed Feb 2012 (took a day)
Fairly straightforward phone interview. Most of the interview was about C++. There were some general algorithm questions, and some that had to do with handling of large data. A small part had to do with investing strategy. No questions about fit, background etc.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
I met with 3 different people for my interview. A Recruiter, Recruiting Coordinator (who was in the position before), and the Recruiting Manager. I called in for an in person interview after applying to the job online through their website. The phone conversation I had with the Recruiting Coordinator who asked me to come in was quick and to the point. I first met with the Recruiter who was very nice and helpful in discribing career advancement opportunities, and was honest in telling me I could be in this position for a few years before being promoted. The Recruiting Coordinator was next who descriped the role in even more detail and mentioned i had done this same kind of work in my pervious internship. Then last was the Recruiting Manager who asked me what I thought the position was about and completely ignored my years worth of internship experience and asked what I learned in school about and HR and orgainzation. I was kind of insulted and then learned how the position was hourly and had no benefits! It was a waste of time and would recommend someone to ask all of these questions regarding pay and benefits up front before going in for a 6 hour interview process!

I was offered a phone interview soon after I sent my resume. The first round consisted of a few questions about my background, motivation to finance field, basic programme language problems (Matlab and C++) and one brain teaser. If you get through the first round, you will get two technical phone interviews and then on-site.

Asked two brain-teasers:
1) You have two strings which are identical. If you light a string from one end, it will burn in exactly one hour. However, the rate of burning may vary along the string, so it may burn faster, then slower, then faster etc. How do you measure exactly 45 minutes using both strings?
2) You have a one meter ruler. We will drop 200 ants on to the ruler, each ant falling at a location along the ruler which is uniformly distrubuted. When an ant falls, it goes left or right with equal probability. When two ants bump into each other they reverse directions. Each ant moves along the string at a speed of 1 meter per minute. How long will it take for all the ants to fall off the ruler?

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Chicago, IL (took 2 days)
Be prepared to answer a large series of puzzles, math questions, and programming/algorithms questions, along with your past experiences or knowledge of the field. The interview consisted of several brain teasers, a practical programming question, an involved optimization problem, and several trading/research questions. The employees that questioned me were very bright and courteous, but demanding.
