Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at City of Lincoln Public Works Department in May 2012.
Interview Details – i WAS INTERVIEWED BY TELEPHONE TO SEE IF I WAS INTERESTED IN THE JOB. i WAS. Then I came in and it was a very informal interview with 3 people from the company. They asked me about my backround and then explained the immediate need they had for the position. They had a test to take and I did that and then they asked me about my answers. It was more like a problem quiz instead of a skills test. They then made small talk to see if I would fit in with the typical office banter and if i had a good personality. Then the interview was over and they told me they would let me know AFTER THEY TALKED TO OTHER CANDIDATES.

Negotiation Details – They called me up and offered me the position and actually apologized that the starting rate was so low. However, they emphasized the good benefits and that if I worked really hard, that there would be a pay increase in 3 months. The rules on this has now changed so it would take longer to get the next step up in raise. I agreed and we set a date to start work and to get orientation.
Pros: Good benefits, steady hours, you can become a lifer easily with golden handcuffs. Easy to commute to. Most of the time it is non stressful. It is a place you can leave and focus on family life at home. Many employees have 2nd jobs for extra income. – Full Review
