Interviewed May 2012 in Cleveland, OH (took 4+ weeks)
I found out about the job through my staffing agency. She sent my resume to the department heads who had decided to ues outside agencies to move the job search along. They liked my resume and immidiately responded requesting an interview. I accepted and went on the interview about 2 weeks later due to holidays, etc. I did not go through their HR and interviewed directly with the the department heads, which consisted of a doctor and a manager. The interview process went very well, they answered all of my questions and we all left very pleased. My agency called to tell me that I was one of the front runners and they really really liked me; however, I would now have to complete the Clinic online application take an assessment to even qualifty for the job. Usually when you go through an agency, this part is bypassed, but I guess everyone has to eventually go through the HR process to get hired. I did what I was told and received an email from HR requesting another interview. I completed that interview by answering your basic interview questions and felt really good after. I then got a call from my agency saying they were going to pass on me. I'm not sure what happened, possibly the assessment, the background check, just not sure. While I have no criminal record, I do have less than stellar credit due to being unemployed for a few years and have had a few bankruptcies. I would hope that the Clinic wouldn't pass on somoneone with my qualifications because of that, but you never know.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Cleveland, OH (took 1+ week)
I was contacted by an HR representative for the basic, "is this the right candidate for us", type of interview. There were some behavioral questions, questions about my salary requirements, and questions about my work history and gaps. I passed the HR screen, and was given the opportunity to come down to the office to meet with two members of the group: the hiring manager, and a potential Sr. co-worker. Both interviews were very laid back and it felt more like a personality test and team building experience than a true rigorous "what can you do for me today?" type of interview. I left on good terms but never heard back. I followed up several times with the HR representative whom I was supposed to contact but never heard back. Finally I gave up and instead of asking about the job, I asked whether the hiring manager would ever vouch for me for another position within the company. This is when it got interesting! The hiring manager tells me he didn't know why I didn't get the job because I was their "top choice", but he was notified that my salary requirements were too high. I told him that I didn't have any dead-set requirements and that I used the range that pay grade (14 or 16, I believe) compensated employees. I may have required $50K, but they were looking for $48. If that were the case, I'm sure they could have negotiated with me. I told him this and told him that $48 would not be a deal-breaker. He tried to contact HR to give the job to me, but after a long snafu of back and forth emails and cross-checking, it ended with him basically back-pedaling saying how it's not his choice but that he couldn't hire me (and even THAT was through interpretation, not actual words!). So my experience with Cleveland Clinic has been strange, to say the least!

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Cleveland, OH (took 1 week)
Phone interview with recruiter. Asked general questions to evaluate candidate in situations, personality, expand on skill set, etc. Told to expect to be contacted in a few weeks. Still waiting after 21 days. Was contacted via email and all contact has been thru such. CC is definitely in control of the hiring process b/c you don't know the name of the hiring manager, only the recruiter (who appears to be a 3rd party contractor). Good luck on finding out what the salary codes means - under lock and key.

The phone interview was very difficult for me. I belive certain question should only be asked during a phone interview. It is more important to conduct an interview in person to be able to get a better understanding of the individual. It was hard to hear clear questions being ask as well

Interviewed Feb 2010 (took 2 months)
The interview process took a long time because there was a question as to whether they would fill the position.
After being in the system, I have learned that this is typical. The hiring process takes a while to play out.
Overall, I can't complain. The job was offered to me and I certainly accepted the position.
