Interviewed Aug 2009 in Bethesda, MD (took 1 week)
1. Initial phone interview with hr rep, about 30 mins, historical, behavioral questions
2. In person interview expect to be there 3-4hrs.
First you have to complete a computerized skill test, fairly simple.
Second is a historical and behavioral interview with a manager, about 90 mins
Third sit with a current researcher and see what they do, this is a good way to see the job first hand, lasts about 30 minutes.
Lastly you have a brief 30 minute interview with the director.

Interviewed May 2009 in San Diego, CA (took 1 week)
It starts off with a phone interview. Then about a week later they call you in for an in person interview where you speak with the head of hr, then interview with a manager, and then finally by a director. If you got the job, they inform you within a couple of days.

Interviewed Jul 2009 in Bethesda, MD (took 1 week)
Applied through my school's career center website, got a call back a few days later. Took a phone interview which lasted roughly 30 minutes. After that, got invited for an in person interview, which was comprised of a cakewalk computer skills test, shadowing an employee, interview with a manager, and interview with a director. Got an offer a few days later. Entire process took about a week.

Negotiation Details
All the job ads clearly laid out the salary and benefits package beforehand, so I did not really negotiate. This being an entry level position, I had the feeling there was little negotiation involved any way.

I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Skills Test, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed May 2009 in San Diego, CA (took 3 weeks)
submitted application online, got a call back for a phone interview two-three weeks later, then got asked for an in-person interview. At in person interview, did one skills test, and met with two managers. Recieved an offer the following week. Also had to clear a background check and a drug test.
People that work here are relatively young, out of college 1-5 years. Although this is a real estate reasearch company, most people don't have a real estate background, and have lame college degrees if any (ie history, women studies, etc.)

Negotiation Details
Due to the crappy economy, I did not negotiate my salary. Although in retrospect I should have. When I applied for this job I really didn't intend to stay at it for more than 1 yr, so I wouldn't have anything to lose by asking for a higher base. Base starts at $40K, although if you have a legit college degree (ie business, real estate, finance, acctg, planning) and related real estate experience, you should def ask for $40K to $44K.
