Interviewed Feb 2011 (took 3+ weeks)
Very unprofessional. Very confrontational. The approach was more about proving the interviewer's superiority than evaluating my skillset

Interviewed Aug 2010 (took a day)
I was referred to Cognizant by an great external recruiter twice to the internal HR department. However, the conversation with the internal recrutiers, especially the executive recruiter, was extremely rude and signed warning signs that it was horrible company.
First, the conversation starts off with accusatory tone asking if my work history was based on lies. Furthermore, the lady tried to accuse me that I never finished my undergrad studies even though I had my masters.
Second, they questioned my previous earning history and asked me to send my current employment contract over. It was as though they were try to disqualify me without a second thought? Also, I never had anyone asked for private contract w/ a previous employer be shared - just odd and unusual.
Third, after the interrogation I tried to ask them questions, but Cognizant recruiter never left anytime answer my questions about the company.
All throughout the process you can sense that Cognizant executive recruiter never read your resume to prepare; it was obvious she was readying my resume for the first time talking to me - very unprofessional.
Still, I stayed courteous although the recruiter was rude all throughout the whole conversation. Had I been rude back I would expect such unprofessional conduct, but it was just undeserved.

Interviewed Jul 2010 (took 2 months)
I was first considered for two different project manager positions, that fell through. I then started the interview process for a program manager (senior manager level). I had phone interviews with: the person who would become my director, a peer, the internal recruiter, and my director's boss. After all these phone interviews, I then had a video conference with my director and peer, where I had a presentation where we had to role play a scenario.

Negotiation Details
There appears to be a pretty set pay scale by the level you come in. The external recruiter that I was working with did the negotiation, and I was very happy with the end result.
