I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Con-way Freight in February 2012.
Interview Details – The process starts with applying for a position on the employee portal (internal.) From there, if you make the 1st cut, you will receive a phone interview with the Director of Opeartions from that region. If you a succesful phone interview, you will receive a face to face interview with the DOO and possibly VP of Operations for the Area. My advice is to be political - they can and will ask around of people's opinions of you in the workplace, and weight heavily on your "employee engagement" abilities. One note of caution: depsite what the company sells you, they primarily know who they have "arranged" for a particular service center. They mainly interview to defeat the illusion of favoritism.
