The interview at Countrywide in Calabassas, CA started out with a phone interview with anHR rep. After 3 days I was called back by what I thought was the hiring manager. She was very polite and I made sure that the position was an excellent fit for both of us before flying out to Calabassas for an interview. The next stage was a multi person interview process 1:1 with three different people including the hiring manager I spoke to on the phone. The process started out 30 minutes late. The hiring manager was still very polite and I could tell that she was very smart and talented. We had a good interaction at this point and it would have been great if it stopped with her. The next interview was with her director and all I can say is that the true nature and morale of the department came through after this point on. The director's office was a mess with reports piled up all over the place and a stack on the conference table, so no place to sit. He was more concerned with finding a replacement for himself, so that he could move up into the Bank of America senior executive staff . "He should look at the hiring manager because he relies on her for everything, but did not seem willing to promote her." He stated how the previous executives all got rich and did not listen to his risk management presentations. Detected a huge amount of resentment here. First sign of trouble, next was the co-worker who stated that the director is only concerned about getting to know the new BofA management team. The co-worker stated he was tired of pushing out SAS code all day long and that he did not have the time to train anyone because his position was mission critical. He was pleased with himself because he was able to get out of BofA training due to this reason. News flash "He is replaceable, but doesn't realized it." The company even stuck me with a car rental. It was a waste of time and two long 3 hour flights. I'd love to live in Calabassas, CA, but not at the cost of working there.
