Interviewed Nov 2009 in Huntsville, AL (took 1 week)
I submitted my resume online to directv. A few days later a received a phone call from them, which was a short phone interview. They seemed to emphasize work history and computer skills. I then was scheduled to a group interviewing sessions a few days later. The people working at the front desk were very friendly. At this session there were approximately 24-25 people, which was quickly narrowed down to around 5 after a computer skills test and a personality test. The lady in charge of the group interviewing process was not very friendly, she did not seem happy to be there, and made the group interviewing process kind of unpleasant. The computer skills test has a few inaccuracies like inconsistent link names on their website, but was fairly simple overall if you have decent computer experience. This was followed by a personality test which was kind of odd, 2 pages of words describing how you think people expect you to be, and how you think you are. like most personality tests, i would recommend checking everything that is positive and leaving anything possibly negative unchecked. After this i was set up with a 1:1 interview. My interviewer was very courteous and made the interview a positive experience. I was offered a position and filled out my paperwork. After the interview I completed a drug screening at a local lab and the process was completed.
