Interviewed May 2010 in Denver, CO (took 3 weeks)
A recruiter contacted me and quickly scheduled a phone interview. It went well and she got back to me within two days to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager. The interview with the hiring manager also went well, so the recruiter called me back very quickly to schedule a video/voicechat interview with the director. I scheduled to have that day off so I could be at home for the interview. The director never called. Within a few days, a different recruiter e-mailed me to see if she could set up a time for an interview with the same director. I elected not to move forward with the process.

Interviewed May 2010 in Thornton, CO (took 2 weeks)
I applied on line and took a series of tests (technical pertaining cables, math & decision-making). Be prepared to spend at least 2 hours for the test and be sure to complete it. After the test, it lead me to the interview appointment calendar where I had to choose an interview date.
On the interview, initially, I was asked to fill up some paper works then I was told to use the computer to listen on some customer-tech/sales/customer service representative sample conversations. After listening, I was told to wait for the interviewer. A lady called my name and introduced herself, she's from the HR. We went to a small room and she began to ask questions about my past work experiences.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Denver, CO (took a day)
I spent 3 hours taking a assessment test, which although long, was fine. I would rather work with other intelligent and educated people, so if the test screens for that, I'm okay with that. Then I was scheduled for a face-to-face interview, which started with another shorter math/language assessment test, which seemed redundant to the first test I had already apparently passed. I also felt a little bit like a sheep being herded through a mechanical process, which I didn't appreciate.
However, from there, I was taken to a team interview with the hiring manager (who was late to the interview) and two senior analysts. They were very open with me about what to expect and were pretty well prepared with questions appropriate to assessing my experience. So the actual conversation was good, I felt, but I was left with significant uncertainties about whether I wanted to work at company with such a micromanaging CEO (who checks a badge sign in/out report to see that you were in the building during the required core hours).
It has been about 3 weeks since my interview and I haven't received any kind of response. I followed up with both a thank you and a one-week status update request and was only told they were still interviewing. I'm not holding my breath, but then again, I don't think I want to.

Interviewed Jan 2009 in Denver, CO (took 3 weeks)
Dish does a great job recruiting for undergraduate interns and puts on an impressive show. The people could not be nicer and overall they are very smart and laid back. Their internship program is very meaty and they offer pay and a housing stipend for the students hired. Interview overall was very laid back- wanting to know the usual work experience, weaknesses, strengths as well as they throw in an analytical question to test out your thought process.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Denver, CO (took 1 week)
I was interviewed on campus after attending my career fair. So far, I've only had a first round interview. The questions were all behavioral, such as describe a time you had an unexpected change in events. They did not ask me any questions that surprised me, and were very friendly during the interview. They told me that they would tell me within a week whether I would be considered for a second round interview. Within four days, I received an e-mail inviting me to a second round. Overall, i would rate my experience, so far, as very positive.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Englewood, CO (took 3 months)
WOW! Where do I start? I guess from the beginning.
I found the opening online. Via LinkedIn, I found a former coworker who mentioned that a former manager of mine worked there. He took my resume to HR.
HR contacted me and ask that I apply online and take a series of FOUR online tests. The HR person was quite pleascent. The tests were for language skills, math skills, logical thinking and something else. The online application was lengthy. Way longer than it needed to be. It also failed part of the way through the 1st time. The FOUR tests took 2 hours to complete. This process started the end of 2009. Shortly afterwards, a hiring freeze was implemented. Great!
I checked by in January 2010. The freeze had been lifted and Dish was looking to fill this position. Shortly after that the HR person called and told me the interview time. Usually you're given the chance to review your schedule. Fortunately, the time worked for me. This was the same HR person, who was still very personalable. He said my online application didn't go through and I needed to do it again. OH! He also mentioned there would be ANOTHER test just like the FOUR I had already taken. Though it would only take 15 minutes. I still don't understand the how the math, word association (how is word #1 similar to word #2?) and puzzle solving tests tell them anything about my technical skills.
I drove 30+ miles and arrived a 10 minutes early. I wound up sitting 15 minutes, 5 minutes past my schedule arrival time. Then I waited another 5 minutes to take the test. Wait again after the test for one of the interviewers. The manager, who was also supposed to interview me, was out of the office but headed in. The 3rd interviewer showed up before the manager. The technical interview proceed.
After the technical interview, they described the Dish Network "culture". You're to be IN the office NO later than 8:30. Not 8:31, not 8:35 but 8:30. You can't leave before 4:00. Again, not 3:58, not 3:59 but 4:00. They use the badge in/out system to verify this. VPs get reports of who is late or who leaves early and they come down on your manager. You're also expected to be there 40 hours per week. It doesn't matter if you've worked all night or all weekend, you must BE there. There is NO telecommuting. They did joke that you can work from home as much as you wanted after putting in your 40 hours. This is Colorado. Sometimes we get HUGE snows that shut down the highways and roads. Doesn't matter. You're expected to BE there. In fact, HR comes down even HARDER on those days. There are time when the snow starts later in the day. Some times management will release the employees. Other wise, they'll give you a list of hotels in the area.
I've been an salaried, exempt employee in the IT industry for over 20 years. I've NEVER seen this level of micro management. I did work for a utility that expected you to come in on snow days but you just had to make it in some time during the day. I thought that was bad. This policy harks back to the 20th century factory worker. I did notice a large number of cars in the parking lot backed into spaces. So when the "whistle blows", you can run to your car and get outa there.
OH! There was ANOTHER test after the interview. At least it was a technical test for my position. That took another hour. All in all, I probably have 6 hours invested in the interview process. Only 2 hours of it actually dealt with my fit into the position.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Englewood, CO (took 2 days)
1st round is all behavioral - questions were standard behavioral questions.
2nd round was supposed to be another 1:1 interview, an essay, and a math and English test, but I only had to take the tests and write the essay. The test is online and similar to the SATs. Math tested algebra, geometry, and logic skills. English tested vocabulary and analogies. For the essay, we were given a prompt and had to write a 500 word response.

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Englewood, CO (took 2 days)
I traveled to Colorado from out of state for this interview. The interviewers were quite pleasant but I had to take a series of 4 or 5 aptitutde tests, numerous phone interviews before, they checked my references, and then I never heard from them for 2 months. Very unprofessional.

Interviewed Nov 2009 in Littleton, CO (took 2 weeks)
For such an entry level job, I was amazed at how extensive their application process was. It began with a personality profile and a standard job application. It continued with an IQ assesment, which included a math test, vocabulary assessment, word problems, and scenario testing. The scenario testing seemed like you were training for the job- it was very extensive. The vocabulary test was hard- I have a college education and struggled with it. No job was offered, but I feel it wasn't a total loss based on other's opinions of the company.
There was a strong emphasis on speed and performance numbers. I got the sense that they would expect you to be a robot and crank out a high volume of calls and sales. Office was pretty.
