Interviewed May 2012 in New York, NY (took a day)
I applied online at DSW.com back in December, they emailed me for an interview; however, the email said if you could not make it, email them and they will set you up with a different date. I did that because the interview was on the Sabbath, but I was never emailed back until April 30th. The interview was on May 9th, and it consisted of a group interview first. If they wanted to continue the process with you, they selected you and you went on for a 1 on 1 interview. The only thing I did not like was that I felt like at my 1:1 interview, the interviewer wasn't paying much attention to me. She kept saying uh huh, and then she told me I got the job and to fill out an availability sheet. Maybe they had already decided I got the job, and that is why. I'm just waiting now on my call to start training (they have to finish the criminal background check first). The interview process took very long because a lot of people came out for the interview, but the interview process itself was good; just be natural. If you have what they're looking for, they'll probably hire you.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Dedham, MA (took a day)
I went in to fill in an application and the next day I got an interview. The interviewer was very friendly but asked me a couple of questions that caught me off guard; maybe thats why I didn't get the job offer. Pretty laid back interview though.

Interviewed May 2011 in Wayne, NJ (took 1 week)
The interview was very fun. It took about an hour, but we were in a group of four and we were asked basic interview questions. The fun part came when we were told to go on the sales floor and choose a shoe that we thought was fashionable for the current season and explain how we could sell it to the customer. After going through questions with the store manager and then one of the managers on duty we were finished. Within a week I was called back to report for training.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Woodbury, MN (took 4 days)
Applied through Careerbuilder and was contacted two days later, set up an interview to take place two days after the phone call. The interview was a group interview conducted by the friendly manager, it consisting of 5-6 other people in the employee break room. Most of the time I was filling out an official paper application because I applied through Careerbuilder, but I did my best to answer questions with the others. It was a very laid back and fun interview overall.

Reason for Declining

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
Applied in person and had a call a week after that for the interview. The interview was in a form of a group of other candidates that were applying for the job. A variety of questions were asked with each person that fit toward the person's experience and attributes. Mine were "tell me about yourself" and "how do you use multi-tasking from where you work". I am still waiting on a callback.

Interviewed Sep 2011 in Bellevue, WA (took 1+ week)
I applied in person, and about a week later was called in for a group interview. there were a total of five of us sitting around a table. the manager asked about 15 questions or so and each person got a different question to answer. example questions: if you were a shoe, what type of shoe would you be and why? what is a bad/good customer experience? why DSW? ect. the interview was short and simple. i got a call about 3 days later and was told i was accepted for the sales associates position. the next step was for me to come to orientation with the appropriate information i.e. drivers license, passport, etc. the best part though is there was NO DRUG TEST.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Ann Arbor, MI (took a day)
I turned in my application and a week later I got a call to attend the group meeting. Group meeting consisted of about 18 people and went rather smoothly. Questions were directed to some people, I think it was those that didn't have much experience got most of the questions. Once the interview was over, you got a call within a few days if you got the job. Then you had to come back for a second interview which was on the sales floor.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Dallas, TX (took 1 week)
Applied in person, and was called a week later to come interview in person. I arrived 10 min early, and wasn't seen until 5 min after my appointed time. I noticed two sales associates talking while I waited. Then, one of them started to approach me, and I realized that she was the manager. Guess her conversation was more important than our appointment.
The questions were very basic interviews question, but she went through them very fast. I felt as if she wasn't even listening to my responses. She just kept nodding and saying "uh-huh, uh-huh". The entire interview only lasted 15 minutes. I was told that they would be doing second interviews for the following week and never received a call.
