Interviewed May 2012 (took a day)
I applied to my local Darden restaurant and marked down being interested in both a server and a host position on a Monday. That Friday, I received an email telling me that they were interested in interviewing me for a server position and I should call the restaurant over the next two days so we could set up an interview time. I spoke with the sales manager who then scheduled me to talk to her at 2PM the following Tuesday.
I showed up 15 minutes early and everyone was super friendly. I talked to the sales manager and she was pretty impressed with me; I think it was because I showed a willingness to learn about the position and what I had to do, especially because I have no prior serving experience. The GM was there running an orientation and she left to see if I could talk to him right after finishing with her. He came over, asked me a few general questions, and then hired me right there on the spot.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Chicago, IL (took a day)
Went in for the interview, confident, looking the part. I sit down fill out another work experience questionnaire and then meet with one of the managers. She was a bitter lady, dont think she liked her job. I got called the day before to come in and be interviewed to be a server which I applied for. We sit down and talk and she says the only thing they can offer is to be a busser. Why do you call me in to be a server and offer a busser. I spend 3 years in the military and just felt disrespected at this offer.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in Portland, OR (took 3 days)
Was called in for an one on one interview with one of the managers. She was very nice and personable as were the other managers. Asked a few very basic questions (easiest interview ever) then was asked back for a second interview. Basically same questions, why work here? Whats your schedule? What's does guest service mean to you? Then had a peer interview same day where he took me On a toUr. Then a finale inter view with head manager. Called same day With job offer.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Not the right fit. Not enough money and too corporate.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 3 days)
I applied online and filled out a personality assessment, all of which took about 45 minutes to an hour. I then received an email letting me know that my application was complete and that id there was an open position and they were interested that I'd get a call. About 5 days later I received a call from the service manager asking me to come in for an interview that day which I agreed to. Also at that time I received an email telling me that they were interested and to call the restaurant for an interview. I went in and waited for the manager while they interviewed other applicants. For the interviewed I was asked a lot of work related questions that I really had to think hard about so be prepared for that. After the interview I set up a second interview, this time with the GM and I was asked to stay for a peer tour (which is really a peer evaluation that I don't think holds too much weight). A server showed me around the restaurant an a little and asked me questions, like a mini interview. Two days later I had my interview with the GM and after a short interview I was hired on the spot.

They asked me questions about how I would handle difficult situations and what be of service means to me. Interview went extremely well but as a student I couldn't offer them enough hours per week.

Interviewed Oct 2010 (took 3 days)
I originally applied as a server here. It was a two interview process over the course of about 10 days. It was pretty relaxed. They asked general interview questions. It was only after being there for two months that I was offered the management position. That interview was little rougher. The district manager, the g.m. for that particular store and the g.m. for another store were present. They brought me in off my server shift, which I wasn't crazy about because I didn't have any of my notes with me and was in my server uniform instead of a professional outfit. They wanted to know why I wanted the job, what I had done in the past that qualified me for the position, examples of how I had overcome obsticles at previous jobs, and questions along similar lines.

Negotiation Details
Yes. I always always always negotiate. The worst thing that could happen is they say no. I was happy they presented an offer first though, because I would have gone way lower. Even so, when they presented thier offer, I still got it up by an additional two grand a year. They may have been prepared to go higher, but I didn't press my luck.

I applied In-Person and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Personality Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Sep 2011 (took 2 days)
Management was personable and knowledgeable during the interview process. My questions were answered sufficiently and concerns about scheduling addressed. For the interview attire; one should wear black slacks and white button down collar with black shoes, the basic uniform for serving. If you have never served before, this would be a good restaurant to start with.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Wayne, NJ (took 2 weeks)
I applied online and completed a personality test. This test is to check the consistencies of your answers to make you're confident and stable, I suppose. After that I had an interview with the Sales Manager which also included a peer evaluation disguised as a "tour" of the restaurant by someone who already works there. I was called in for a second interview with the General Manager and was hired on the spot. I had to wait about a week for orientation and then another week to begin my four days of training.

Negotiation Details
I was offered $9/hour, asked for $10/hour, agreed to $9.25/hour. I should have kept negotiating, its not worth $9.25.

Interviewed Jun 2011 in Jacksonville, FL (took 1 week)
intial walk in - fill in application and 175 question personality test - make sure you interact with current staff, as apparently that is part of the application process, smile at current servers, be upbeat and positive and friendly - wait to be contacted by manager, will be given a 1.1 interview and taken for a tour of restaurant and kitchen - please remember to wear suitable shoes so they can do this, otherwise you will not be able to tour the kitchen area. you will then wait for a call and go and answer questions with the General Manager. Once hired you will need to supply your own shirts and trousers for the uniform and non slip shoes - expect to outlay for your uniform. they will give you an apron and tie and any other things required for the job - expect to describe a wonderful favorite dish to the G.M during the interview....!

Interviewed May 2010 (took 3 days)
Showed up for the second interview but the manager was busy and I was told to come back the next day. The restaurant is 45 minutes from my house so this annoyed me that I got dressed and drove there for nothing. Other than that the 3 interviews went well and were not difficult.
