Network Engineer at Dataprise

No Offer – Interviewed in Rockville, MD – Reviewed Aug 22, 2012

Interview Details – I was appalled by the negativity in my interview. Without going into a lot of detail, I will summarize the interview with the following quote from the second person who met with me; this is the first thing he said once we sat down:

"So is this your 5th interview so far today?"

I was so taken aback by such a rude initial comment that it ruined the rest of the interview for me. I should have simply ended it there, as I knew where it was headed, but gave him the courtesy of a complete interview, even though he showed me no respect whatsoever.

This in-person interview was a follow-up to a phone interview with another engineer, who had spoken highly of them. What I don't understand is this: Why would Dataprise waste my time and their own time if they didn't take me seriously from the beginning? I have nearly a decade of experience, numerous recommendations and commendations, and I was treated as if I had just walked out of college with no experience whatsoever.

Dataprise claims to focus on customer service, but if this is their definition of "customer service", I wouldn't want to be one of their clients!

Declined Offer – Interviewed in Rockville, MD Mar 2011 – Reviewed Feb 6, 2012

Interview Details – Dataprise recruiter reached out to me via LinkedIn. Did a 30 minute phone interview where the interviewer asked a lot of "tell me about a time when you..." questions. Basically the same question over and over with a slightly different ending. I started running out of war stories to use to answer the questions by the end. Then I was asked to go in for an in person interview where I spoke one on one with two different people. The first asked me a lot of technical questions to test my knowledge. The second was the actual hiring manager and we just spoke in a more informal way. I guess I had passed all their tests by that point and the hiring manager was just feeling out my personality.

Interview Question – Tell me about a time when a task or project did not go according to plan.   Answer Question

Network Engineer at Dataprise

No Offer – Interviewed in Rockville, MD Feb 2011 – Reviewed Mar 14, 2011

Interview Details – The interview wasn't too bad, but also wasn't very thorough. I was asked one technical question by the two people I spke with. The last person I talked to assured me they call everyone back within 48 hours to let them know their decision one way or the other but it has been over a month and I havent heard back. If you have interviewed for them and werent selected, I suspect the same happened to you as well.

Interview Question – Where do you see yourself in five years?   Answer Question

Network Engineer at Dataprise

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Jun 2012 – Reviewed Jun 30, 2012

Interview Details – The interview process was very straight forward; they contacted me after receiving my resume from Monster/Craigslist. I was asked a few technical questions during the initial telephone interview. I was then invited for a technical interview with one of the managers. The first interview took about 90 minutes and was very technical. I received an invitation for a second interview, in which both personality and presentation were evaluated. (in my opinion)

Interview Question – What technologies are you not familiar with?   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Negotiation was very easy and straight forward with no games. Just be upfront with them, and they'll tell you whether or not they can meet you in the middle.
