Interviewed Jul 2011 in Houston, TX (took 2 weeks)
I was contacted through email by the would-be manager. The facility near the Galleria was extremely nice and was basically a huge David Weekley home. The receptionist was very personable and welcoming.
The first interview day consisted of the Wonderlic Personnel test, followed by an interview with the would-be manager. The interview went well and was quite laid-back. I was informed that it was a "different" company, in that they're very family-oriented. An example they gave was that, if they were to hire you, they would want to come to your home to meet your spouse and kids because (they said) they want your family to be comfortable with your job too. Kinda odd and intrusive if you ask me. I was also told they had layoffs due to the economy, but that the company was stable. And also, the only reason why they were hiring for this position was because the last person left.
The second day consisted of JUST the Berke Assessment (personality test).
The third day included a second interview with the manager, along with an interview with the VP. I felt both interviews went well. The manager told me that the personality test showed I'd be a great fit and, when I inquired, that I was the top contender. I later met with the VP, which was tense at first, but became laid back as well. I was able to witness friendly interactions between the manager and a couple of employees as well.
I was told that I'd be contacted within the week with a decision. I gave them a week or two to respond, and then I emailed the manager. No response. Wow, really? I took the time, money and energy for those three days, and they couldn't even give me a rejection email in response to my inquiry. To me, this showed a great lack of professionalism and disregard.

Interviewed Jun 2011 (took 2 days)
I received a phone call from the person that I was actually supposed to interview with. That was good. I went in 2 days after that to meet that person. I thought that the interview went well until it was said that I didnt have enough experience, but that I would fit in great with a couple of other positions that were "coming up in a few months". There was a phone call, set up "testing" for the next day. I went to the "testing", spend about 3 hours in a trailer with a very nice person. During the "testing", I overheard a phone conversation that I was wonderful and would be a great asset to the company for either purchasing or project coordinator. I was thrilled when I was given the person's cell and email to get in touch if I hadn't heard from the other person. I thought that I was "in". The next week, of course, I hadn't heard from anyone, so I emailed both people to see if I had any position... nothing. No return calls or emails even though I specifically asked if they would contact me with a yes or no. I was told that yes I would here one way or the other. Nothing. I would have loved any of the positions and worked for them proudly. Very dissappointed.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Houston, TX (took 3 months)
The hiring process at David Weekley Homes is pehaps the longest that I have come across in my 17 year career. They require multiple trips to their offices for interviews and testing. These trips to their location are often several weeks apart. In my situation, each time I would go to the office the interviewing manager would give me a date that they would contact me on and tell me that follow up on my part was not needed as they prefer not to have follow up from their candidates. In every situation during my inteview process, they failed to contact me on the date given and in two cases I had to contact the manager to remind her that I was waiting to be scheduled for the next step of the process. On two different occassions I was scheduled to meet with individuals who were on vacation at the time and was passed off to another person who did not even know what position I was applying for. I realize that David Weekley Homes is a highly rated company to work for, but I can tell you that their corporate office is incredibly disorganized and they show little to know concern for individuals in the hiring process with their company.
