Interviewed Oct 2010 in Austin, TX (took 5 days)
Was notified by an HR representative to schedule a phone interview with the hiring manager. The phone interview happened a couple of days later and lasted for about 30 minutes. After the phone interview, I was notified by the HR representative in order to schedule an in person interview with several team members. That interview lasted several hours. It was followed a couple of days later with a request to come interview with a Director level manager. I was notified via email that they were not interested.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in Round Rock, TX (took 2 weeks)
I have only completed the initial phone interview so far but I was asked for an in-person interview. They are going to fly me down for more interviews. Another dev performed the phone interview. We discussed my previous experience. He wanted to know about specific technologies that I had worked with and how I implemented it. His questions were all answered in about 20 minutes and I asked about 20 minutes worth of questions.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Austin, TX (took 2 weeks)
Simple phone screen and then called over for onsite interview. Interview consisted of just three people individually talking to me - manager, her boss and a potential peer. Nobody from the business side was called given this position had a fair amount of interaction. The company's IT department is being asked to work remote and their image from what I gathered had taken a beating of late.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in Round Rock, TX (took 2 weeks)
Interview was behavior and situation focused. I already had a great deal of first hand experience with the project from another contract role, and so the interview was very focused on the specifics of the project. There were a many questions around current program challenges and my strategies to move the program forward. There were many questions around my comfort with executive presentations.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in Round Rock, TX (took 4 weeks)
I applied to a job as a Senior Product Manager online, and the recruiter contacted me about 2 days later via phone. He said there were a number of openings for the same job, just managing different products. He asked me about my interests and said he would connect me with someone hiring for a product manager role aligned with my interests. A few days later I was setup to have a phone interview with what I thought was going to be the hiring manager, but turned out to be a potential peer. It was more informational than an interview of my skills. Then about a week later I was scheduled for a 3 person panel interview over the phone. It consisted of the same guy from the last call, plus 2 additional potential peers, but not the hiring manager. One of the three guys was late to the interview and they asked me some questions, but it didn't feel like it really give me a chance to differentiate myself from competitors. The questions where "how would you do this" or "how would you handle that" to some fairly generic scenarios. I was told that if I made it past this interview, they would invite me on site for an all day interview with several people. A couple of days later I asked for a status update from HR and they said they decided to go with another candidate.
The experience was OK overall. It was quick and not delayed. But it was odd that I never got to talk to the hiring manager despite three phone interviews.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Austin, TX (took 2 months)
I evaluated Dell as an employer and chose them for their diversity of product line. I communicated through their hiring portal, submitting my resume. I was called for an initial interview, and it went well. This was followed by four additional phone interviews with different managers. I then met two of them at different times for face to face interviews. I then was in the running against one other candidate and I ultimately was chosen. A verbal notification came next and an offer letter. Everyone was very professional, though the culture is very loose, unstructured.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Round Rock, TX (took 2+ weeks)
The hiring manager contacted me to explain the role he wanted to fill and see if I was interested. I said yes, but did not hear back from anyone for two weeks. An interview request was sent to me and there was no room reserved, so we talked in the hallway. One interview directly with the hiring manager where he described his team more and asked me a few questions. Then a second interview with two of the people on his team. One was an overweight middle aged woman who seemed to have a very negative opinion of men. Most of the questions were very technical in nature, and seemingly misplaced after speaking with the hiring manager. No further communication from anyone on the team despite attempts to follow-up several times.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Austin, TX (took 1+ week)
Phone screen with business unit leader, passed. Then, in person interviews with business unit leader & two managers who I'd be working with. HR wants to control everything so you have to rely on some R&D to hunt down contact details to reach out / thank people. Generally speaking your past experience is used heavily - so the process was mostly about 'do you know what you're doing?'. I provided a work sample as well, after explaining a scenario in a phone screen.

Negotiation Details
Not really able to negotiate - my historical compensation was pretty good so Dell came out with their best offer. After some personal R&D it was found the offer really was as strong as they could go. HR does all negotiating.

Interviewed May 2010 in Round Rock, TX (took 3 weeks)
I obtained an interview through an employee referral. They seemed very disorganized. I interviewed with four people and I had to remind each one why I was there and what I was interviewing for.
