Software Development Senior Advisor Interview

Software Development Senior Advisor
Boston, MA

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Dell in May 2014.

Interview Details – Interview is real quick. Offer release was prompt with regular follow ups. Salary was based on current offers in hand and was decent. Interviewing was 3 fold. The hiring manager called for a 30 min session which was very high level, followed by a panel Webex asking technical questions. The final one was with the recruiter and mainly around compensation process

Interview Question – Explain the end to end automation in continuous integration environment with a business case. Explain your current job profile and how do you think the interviewed position fits your skills   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Please ensure that you tell them of current offers in hand. They will not exceed your offers, but match the exact number. So make sure you have a bigger number in other companies and then interview for Dell, so that they match offers. Otherwise, their current salary benchmarks are very poor

Senior Business Analyst Interview

Senior Business Analyst
Boston, MA

The process took 2 days - interviewed at Dell in November 2011.

Interview Details – Initial phone interview was to establish working knowledge in the industry for this position. Without working knowledge it would be easy to determine that the person was embelishing their resume/past work. The panel was interesting, there 4 people they all asked questions regarding my experience but also participated in what I would call a group meeting. Probably to determine if I could fit into their culture without ruffling feathers of others. The other folks within the group where strong personalities, there was one person virtually attending the interview. Heavy on skill/knowledge recongnition.

Interview Questions

  • How proficient are you in using excel?   View Answer
  • Have you ever dealt with a strong personality? And how did you handle the situation if you required work from them?   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I was able to negotiate to a higher pay grade because my knowledge and experience but also my work ethic are difficult to come by. I counter offered, but also had another offer on the table that I was leaning towards.
