Described as "exciting senior role" to plan (globally sourced) production capacity and lean out component supply operations in all aspects of the hardware side of the business. Said to have a strong innovation dimension.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Job spec included the following gem under "Responsibilties":
"• Ownership of Global productivity driving 10% pa improvement "
and under "Skills":
"• Strong project management skills. PMP Certification a plus"
The first point is an unachievable target especially in the dying years of global sourcing when almost all suppliers have adopted the same fulfillment model. There is no significant further productivity gain possible and Dell has failed to understand that. A complete change of business strategy is required to save the business, based on a combination of IP and innovation. This is a once-remarkable company that has lost its way and doesn't know what it needs.
The second point indicates that the role is essentially a junior one. Certified PM skills are irrelevant to the role that actually needs to be hired for here, which is that of a powerful agent for strategic change. Appropriate candidates will be entrepreneurial visionaries and their PM skills will be both off the scale and a minor part of their overall contribution. This role also is not an individual role but requires an external strategy consulting team with resources to reflect that.
Once again we see that large corporations lack the insight to know what help they need and the humility to ask the right people without putting silly constraints on their freedom to operate.

Before to apply you need your manager to approve that you are going to apply for other position.
Once is approved, you can apply up to 3 internal positions.
Positions can be only ant the same level that you are or one more level. You need at least 2 years in your level to apply for a next level.
Once submited, HR will review your CV, preform a background, and confirm with your manager that you have the approval to apply before to send the CV to the hiren manager.
If your CV is passed to the hiren manager it can take up to 2 months to get and interview or you can get a notification that the position has been close.
After this stages, depending of the role you will get a techncial test interview with 2 senior tech and 2 managers interviews.
After all this interviews you can get an offer or just a notification that you do not fill the requirments for the position
