Interviewed Jan 2012 in Arlington, VA (took 3 weeks)
Back in January 2012, I was referred by a colleague of my friend for a position outside of Virginia. I was contacted by the talent recruiting manager who, incidentally, thought there are more matching opportunities available for me at their D.C. office.
Two days later, the talent manager called and asked a few questions regarding my background, my career path I was hoping to take on (I was in between career transition), my previous salary range and the length of my employments. He mentioned that he will try to find someone to do a technical screening interview with me.
10 days later he called me to set up a phone interview. I found out later that he had entirely forgotten to communicate with me about an interview he had set up on that same day he had called; so now he was trying remedy the miscommunication by rescheduling it with the same person. Great! He was indeed apologetic about it which I totally understand; things happen.
I got a phone call as expected a few days later, and I talked with a "man-in-a-coma" who I could barely decipher what he was saying. He tried to ask me several technical questions which, in my opinion, were poorly constructed and very sporadic. Nonetheless, I hammered away thinking to myself that his nonchalant, and almost moribund, enthusiasm was a sign of disinterest. To this day, for the life of me, I don't know the name of the interviewer.
A few days later, I received a call from the talent manager that he was going to set up an on-site interview at their Arlington office. I was told that I will be going for a general interview (no particular position, just to see if I would be a fit within the company).
On the day of the face-to-face interview, we were ushered in to a conference room by the recruiting coordinators and were given an orientation by a director which took about 20 minutes, accompanied by a Q&A session about the consulting/public side of the company.
Up to that point, I did not know which division I was being interviewed for which was unsettling. I didn't even know who I was going to interview with, what position I was being sought for, what kind of qualifications or preparations I had to do... I was intentionally kept in the total dark.
At the end of the orientation, we were individually placed in a small conference room and were told to wait for three people to join us to conduct three 30-minute long interviews. My first interview happened to be with the director who was responsible to see if the candidates "culturally" match their teams. I did well with her, and she took an interest in my background which was very distance from consultancy in the technological domain. I sensed that she was a bit unease, and for someone who is introverted, I took it upon myself to warm her into my "narrative." She fired a few very broad questions and allowed me to take over the wheel. I managed to squeeze as many good qualifications into my examples to portray myself as a suitable candidate.
I had read quit a bit about the past and current employees' views on the internal dynamics of the company, mostly kvetching about the emergence of toxic personalities due to the "Survival" style alliances formed because of the way the evaluations are structured. I paid close attention to see if I could detect any spoor of such characteristics, especially in the director, but couldn't unearth much. I asked a few questions at the end; requested her business card, and the 30 minutes was up.
The second round was a case study. A case study? Nobody had told me about any case study! An extremely sharp, well spoken, and analytical senior technical consultant walked me through the process which he entirely abandoned from the get go. He read the case study and immediately unloaded a volley of never-ending questions -- it totally threw me off. Every time I attempted to collect my thoughts to answer his questions and tried to analyze the subtext from the various angles, he would cut me off to throw a curve ball.
Not being familiar with the concepts of business analysis, and the overall topic of the presented problem, I found myself relying mostly on dissecting the issue from an unconventional approach. I was sure I had done poorly on this part of the interview process. I really admired how he tried to guide me by maneuvering my handicapped answers through his exploratory questions. At some point, I realized that he is a type of person that rather the candidates do not evade his inquiries by resorting to mindless deviation from the crux of his gist. So, I tried to directly address his concerns which of course encouraged him to come up with a more complicated scenarios. It was his job to stab my brain, and I understood that.

At the end, it was my turn to ask questions which I gleefully obliged. What I found out was that most of the interviewers, except the higher ups, do this, not on a compulsory basis to find a qualified candidate for their team, but voluntarily as a "mandatory" contribution to the company. I knew that there is a big chance I would not particularly end up working with their teams. I asked for his business card, but he did not have one on him.
The last leg of the interview was the technical one. The interviewer was a lead architect, who, to my surprise, didn't have my resume! I handed him a copy I had brought with me. For obvious reasons, he had not gone through it and simply would grab a word and ask pertinent questions regarding that technology.
The entire format was very informal, and the questions were extremely easy. I was thinking to myself anyone who had remotely memorized a few answers could have aced this one. For some reason, even though my answers were mostly accurate, personally, I found them unpolished. I soldiered on for the next 20 minutes, at which point, it became obvious the interviewer just wanted to bolt out.
He even forgot to walk me out until I reminded him. I wasn't sure the people who interviewed me for the case study and the technical part were interested in me. I was not even told what would be the next step until I directly asked them. Frankly, I wasn't banking on them to call me back.
The interview was concluded by the late evening, and by the following morning on Wednesday, I received a call from the talent manager offering me a position -- as a junior level BTA.
[Negotiation]
From the beginning, they made it clear that there will be no room to wiggle for negotiation although company provides wide variety of perks. I was not particularly hung on the base salary as I just wanted to get in to the company and eventually work my way up (people have different priorities).

The interview consisted of two rounds a couple days apart. The first round was two back-to-back 30 minute interviews, the first "fit" questions and the second a case question. The case was relatively straightforward and the interviewer was engaging and helpful.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Arlington, VA (took 4+ weeks)
I got the first interview in mid-October 2011 through my university's job board (Deloitte recruits on my campus). The first interview was on campus and actually consisted of a 30-minute behavioral interview with one Deloitte recruiter and a 30-minute consulting case study with a principal (I think-he might have been a partner or group leader or whatever they call them) at Deloitte. Both parts of the interview were relatively easy and they tried hard to make it low pressure.
The second (and final round) interview for the position was an office visit (called a Human Capital Blitz) in their Arlington, VA office. There was a presentation about the job Friday night, they put us (the other university recruits and me) up in a hotel that night, and then there was a series of 5 interviews intermixed with more presentations the next day. One interview was a group case presentation, in which four other recruits and I were given a problem and charged with solving it (while two Deloitte consultants watched) and presenting it to those same consultants. There were two more short case study interviews, and two behavioral interviews, all with different interviewers. They then sent all of the recruits home and notified us the next week whether or not they were making us offers.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Arlington, VA (took 2 weeks)
Everyone that I spoke with was extremely friendly and looking to help you throughout the process. The company is team oriented and the employees seem to be pretty intelligent and generally outgoing. They want you to have a clear idea in your head going into the interview of what Deloitte is all about and why you want to be a part of that. Other firms I've interviewed for in the past weren't as concerned with that. They want you to have an idea of how you would fit in and why it is a good fit for you, so definitely be able to list a few specific examples of that.
The interview process tends to be quick. I had a phone interview over the winter holidays and heard back a day or two after that I had moved on to the final round. Then the first week in Jan I had a superday with 3 different people (2 behavioral and 1 case). I heard back from them a few days later on their decision. Even if the position is more on the technical side, the interviews are focused on behavioral type questions and how you would fit in with company culture. It is very important that you present yourself as a team player and that you talk about how you interact with your team as well as your superiors and people outside the team. Of course, think of questions about the company culture to ask for after the interview. If you are stuck on those, ask about mentorship within the company, if they pay for advanced degrees and how their internal points system works (for participating in company events and clubs).
The case study was to create a budget. You have to ask for information to complete it, so just stay calm and think through it. It isn't a complicated case since they just want to see how you reason. It's more common sense type scenario. After that they give you a situation where the client wants to cut costs and you have to go through how you would figure out what to cut. Just ask about the importance of different items and make some assumptions. As long as they are reasonable and you explain yourself, you'll be fine.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Arlington, VA (took 2 days)
Consisted of four 1 on 1 interviews which were done in two rounds. The first round was on campus and focused primarily on personality questions (describe a time). The first interviewer was really nice and laid back and seemed to really want to prepare you for the next interview. The second interview was more difficult for a couple reasons:
1. Interviewer had someone of an accent and spoke very fast. It was hard to understand the questions at times.
2. He seemed to rush through the questions and yawned all throughout as I answered his questions which I found to be rude. I'm pretty sure these were the last interviews of the day and he just wanted to leave.
3. You better know your stuff technically because he threw a lot of technical questions out there. Luckily I got most of them.
After the first round, I got an email asking me to come in for a second round which was on location. A group of us were all selected for this and we took turns being interviewed on a 1 on 1 basis. These interviews didn't seem to be as technical, but a little more in depth than before. I felt the first interview on location to be a little awkward since the person interviewing me told me they actually didn't really know what to ask me since they usually don't do them and I was asked a lot of yes/no questions which made it hard to elaborate. The second interviewer was very professional and was ready with questions, but laid back at the same time as well. Expect a callback within a week or so.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Arlington, VA (took a day)
I was set up with a very helpful phone mock interview first. The actual interview consisted of a 1/2 hour case and 1/2 hour behavioral, each with different interviewers. They didn't seem unfriendly, but neither smiled that much. The case was pretty tough. Communication before the interview was excellent.

Behavioral and case. The case interview was mostly strategic, and the behavioral was a standard behavior interview with questions like "Describe a time in the past year where you worked with someone you didn't want to work with."
Additionally, the case interview was rather straightforward and dealt with working with off-shore teams and the benefits and risks associated with them. SLDC is very important and should be understood well.

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Arlington, VA (took 6+ weeks)
I had an overall positive experience except for the time it took from the first recruiter contact to the first interview. There were several weeks of silence where I assumed they lost interest.
I had a quick phone interview with the recruiter who asked about salary and why I was looking for employment there. The in-person interview was in their Rosslyn high-rise with a group of other applicants. After a group presentation we split up into individual rooms where 3 managers and leads from other locations took turns interviewing. Each person came in for 20 minute slots.
One interview slot was an overall personality type interview. The next slot was more technical asking about specific programming experience and how I dealt with situations. The final slot was a case study which my interviewer made VERY informal. I actually had fun talking with him. They ended up giving him the wrong case study to ask me about but I knew what to answer anyway and felt at ease enough to joke with him.
The next week, I received informal positive feedback from the recruiter with the approximate salary they might offer. The next week I received the official offer letter with the same salary mentioned by the recruiter. I was disappointed and took my time to decide. I also tried negotiating but was turned down.
