Business Technology Analyst at Deloitte

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Harrisonburg, VA Oct 2012 – Reviewed Nov 7, 2012

Interview Details – Deloitte came to my campus for recruiting. Interested students applied through our school's recruitment website and were contacted later by the company if there was a mutual interest. The first interview session consisted of two half-hour interviews: one behavioral, one case study. The behavioral interview consisted of typical questions, such as, "How do you work in groups?" and, "How do you handle difficult situations?" The case study interview was a bit harder, requiring analysis of a fairly vague business. The second interview was a more intensive case study interview, again requiring analysis of a vague business.

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Oct 2012 – Reviewed Nov 5, 2012

Interview Details – I applied through campus. The process consisted of two rounds
1. Round 1: Two back to back 1:1 interviews on campus with senior management. Each half an hour. One case and one behavioral
Got a call the next afternoon from HR inviting me to the office for the second round
2. Round 2: Detailed 45 minute case with Director/ Partner.

Got a call in two days with an offer.

Do cases thoroughly. Be specific and organized. The cases are technology and not business. Sample cases on the website are good examples of what to expect. They are pretty straight forward. Think in terms of how you can differentiate yourself in a case answer because the approach can be pretty standard and obvious.
Try to engage the interviewer by asking intelligent questions.
The key is to have a good conversation with the interviewer and nail the case!

The HR is very prompt in informing you of the outcome. The entire process was very quick and professional.

Interview Question – Case on new CRM system
Case on system integration for financial transformation
A time when your integrity was compromised

Negotiation Details – I did not try to negotiate- offer is very competitve

No Offer – Interviewed in Chicago, IL Oct 2012 – Reviewed Oct 19, 2012

Interview Details – I got the 1st round interview through on campus recruiting. The 1st round interview consist of two back to back 30 minutes interviews. One is behavioral and one is case. I had the case interview first with a senior manager. He presented (read) the case to me with a piece of paper on hand, and given pretty much everything that I need for this case. The case was about a investment bank grow through inquiring multiple banks in the past 2 years and the old financial reporting systems does not compatible with each other. He asked me 4 questions regarding system integration and data management.

The behavioral interview was pretty standard. The lady who interviewed me was really nice. She asked several questions regarding team experience (conflict/ leadership/challenge).

I was fortunate to get selected to the 2nd round interview the next day. I got notified through phone the night of my 1st round interview. The 2nd round interview is still on campus and it's a 30 minutes case interview with a partner. He tried to make the case conversational, and intended to leave out some information for me to ask questions. He asked me 5-6 questions to guide me through the analysis process, which I find is really helpful. The case was about CRM system implementation in a global organization.

Interview Question – Given the information, how do you prioritize the steps that you're going to do.   Answer Question

No Offer – Interviewed in Dallas, TX Sep 2011 – Reviewed Oct 12, 2012

Interview Details – I met with Deloitte at a large on campus information setting. During the information setting I tried to get to meet with as many of their full time employees as possible and ended up making a connection with one in particular. I emailed this individual afterwards, thanking him for his time and asking to meet informally so I could learn more about Deloitte.

The interview process was two parts: Behavioral and Case Interviews - 45 minutes each. Each was pretty straight forward.

Interview Question – The Case Interview segment was more difficult for me. I would recommend spending time on the Deloitte site reviewing the preparatory information they provide before coming into the interview. I would also recommend looking for a more thorough explanation of Case Interview (i.e. Case and Point).   Answer Question

No Offer – Interviewed in Kansas City, MO Sep 2012 – Reviewed Oct 5, 2012

Interview Details – I had a first round interview on campus consisting of a 30 minute case followed by a 30 minute behavioral interview. I bombed the case but felt good with the behavioral portion. I was contacted a couple days later and asked to come to the office for a second round interview. There were six other BTA candidates there and it consisted of Deloitte selling the company and position to you then a two-on-one case interview that lasted an hour. It was pretty rough and seemed to drag on. They then took us out for a nice lunch and a final Q&A.

Interview Question – Just review the cases on their website and that should give you a good idea of what to expect.   Answer Question
