I sent a resume in for a position in operations and was contacted about a week later by a recruiter who asked the basic questions (salary, etc), and then scheduled an onsite interview with a VP. The interview went well, but I was not offered a position. I was asked lots of questions about how I would approach first 90 days, and that sort of thing...the kind of stuff that a director should be prepared to answer.

A short phone conversation with the HR person, followed by a phone interview with the manager of the specific department. Then they called for an in-person interview where I met with the different individuals in the specific group I was going to be working in. Everyone was super nice.

I applied through a 3rd party site, flew there and paid for a hotel all of my own expense. The interviewers told me I was not qualified for the position upon examining my resume in their hand. They told me I should look into a different position with a lower pay series. I expressed interest, answered all questions and was hurried out of the room. They did not call me to even say thank you but we are not interested. A very shady operation.

I had two interviews but it only took about an hour. The first one with the direct report and she asked me some questions and she wrote down all of my answers. After that her direct report had an interview and explained about the company and asked me one question.
