First we need to know what type of a room we are talking about here. A bedroom, living room, dining room and at home / office / hotel etc.

Lets say we want to design a bed room at home.

Think about what someone would do in the room (use cases)

Enter the room.
Leave the room.
Move across the room.
Go to the attached toilet.
Search for clothes in the wardrobe
etc etc.

Now, what senses typically could be used here.

An important point is that the person is completely blind or have some sense of
color etc. if the second case, then some shades of dark/bright/dull colors could be used to give him a sense of direction to him.
The floor (carpeted or not) should be very smooth.
