I applied online and interviewed at Deutsche Bank.

Interview Details – Applied through the campus online recruiting website and was contacted a couple of days later. The recruiter was nice and the screening interview was short with mainly behavioral questions, the only one I specifically remember was why finance. Went up to Jacksonville for an interview with 3 guys and I thought it went well but I didn't get the offer.

Interview Question – What was the coolest thing you've done in Excel?   Answer Question

I applied through college or university and interviewed at Deutsche Bank.

Interview Details – Initial contact was with recruiter. Wow him/ her and you are almost guaranteed an interview. Need a decent resume and experience too. Two round of interviews led by two managers of different divisions. 10-15 minute rounds. One asked technical questions such as PV/ FV, excel operations, Bloomberg Terminal, Reuters Stations, etc. The other asked DB detailed oriented questions. Operations, financials, etc. There was an informal financial test, about 5 questions as well.

Interview Question – Tell me how Deutsche Bank makes money?   View Answer

Reason for Declining – Personal.

I applied through college or university and the process took 2 months - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in May 2012.

Interview Details – HR does not do a good job at communicating with the potential employees about the date and time of the interview. I was interviewed by three managers. The most difficult questions were about a Bloomberg function and some Excel functions and how swaps work.

Interview Question – Bloomberg Function.   Answer Question

I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in August 2011.

Interview Details – First I was emailed to schedule a phone interview. The human resources representative call right on time and the questions she asked were almost entirely in regards to my professional background. About a week later I was scheduled for an in-person interview at the Jacksonville campus. Multiple interviewers came in and out while I was speaking which appeared to be a sloppy distraction technique or at worst poor planning. As with the phone interview most of the questioning was focused on background, however there were some behavioral questions asked.

The process took a day - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in February 2011.

Interview Details – They came on campus to interview for their operations positions and the interviews lasted about 30 minutes. They send over a VP from different divisions and its 1-1. They basically asked you about your experiences on your resume, asked why you wanted to work at DB, and what your goals were. Easy interview basically looking for fit. No technical questions.

Interview Questions

  • What is a failure you have had in life and what did you learn from the experience?   View Answer
  • What do you think this xxxx experience on your resume taught you and how will this benefit you in the future?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The position does not really offer the exposure I was looking to a traditional I-Bank environment. The ability to move up in the ranks through the back office is there but as far as making a vertical move it could pretty tough especially due to location and the caliber of work being conducted there. The pay is not to great either you are only required to work 40 hours and then anything extra is over time which you are compensated for. If you want to stay in Florida go down the street and get a job in PWM the pay will be better and the opportunities are greater.

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in March 2009.

Interview Details – Initial communication at campus presentation and resume drop with alumni in January 2009. Two weeks later received phone call from Human Resources to schedule a phone interview and on campus interview with senior employees. Phone interview was basic personality/fit interview (ie. describe a time you worked on a team, what motivates you, what weaknesses do you have). Lasted no more than 30 min. Both interviewers were very nice and made sure I knew what the position I was applying for entailed. The campus interview was a little more intense, but similar format. Interviewer asked questions pertaining to my resume first - focusing on work experience, then personality/fit questions. Feedback was positive. Reason for no hire - highly competitive year.

Interview Questions

  • Describe one of your weaknesses?   View Answer
  • Describe a time when you were working on a team and you were faced with a time sensitive issue - how did you handle it?   Answer Question

The process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in April 2010.

Interview Details – The interview consisted of a phone interview and a face-to-face interview. The face-to-face interview seemed very impersonal. It seemed as if the managers did not really have the time to interview. They never smiled and seemed very tense. The questions were not too difficult, mostly behavioral, although they did ask for my understanding of the position I was applying for.

Interview Question – What is your understanding of this position?   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The pay was too low and the hours seemed brutal compared to comparable firms.

I applied through college or university and the process took a day - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in March 2010.

Interview Details – I was invited down to the Jacksonville office. I spoke to four hiring managers. Two each for a single position. Most of their questions were behavioral and very common. The most difficult question they asked was explain credit derivatives and a life cycle of a security.

Interview Question – where do you see yourself in five years?   View Answer

Reason for Declining – $35,000 + overtime pay was too low.

The process took a day - interviewed at Deutsche Bank in February 2010.

Interview Details – The entire process began with on campus interviewing and information sessions. Initial interviews were given on a first come, first served basis immediately following the information session. Within a few days I had a phone interview set up with a group. Shortly after that interview, I was scheduled for an office visit which would entail a 1:1 interview with a Director. Additionally, they scheduled two more in-person interviews on the same day. By the time I was done, the entire process took a week. I had an offer just a few days after those interviews, after completing some additional paperwork.

Interview Question – Tell me about a time you made a big mistake and what you did to neutralize it.   Answer Question

Reason for Declining – The compensation was not quite competitive enough. Taking overtime into account, the salaries would be similar to other non-overtime salaries. However, apples for apples, the salaries were lower. No signing bonus or relocation benefits and no annual bonus.
