Interviewed Feb 2009 in Chicago, IL (took 4+ weeks)
Two telephone interviews - one HR and another technical. Flown down to Chicago for a full day of interviews - all one-on-one. Consisted of case interviews, one presentation, simulated cases, knowledge of finance, modeling, project management etc. A couple of interviewers were sort of demeaning and almost looked down upon you - either for real or as a pretense to put you under stress.
Interview Questions
Negotiation Details
Very little room for negotiation - usually all salaries are standard by role and seniority (save for partners) and you have very little wiggle room.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Oct 2010 in New York, NY (took a day)
I applied online through my university's career center and got an initial interview. There were two components to the interview: 1) a 45-minute behavioral interview and 2) a case/situational interview. The first interviewer was very congenial and personable, but the case interviewer was very cold and did not seem to show much emotion. Both were fairly straightforward, but make sure you prepare for the case study beforehand.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took 2 days)
Interview process consisted of two rounds. First round consisted of two interviews: one behavioral and one case study. Second round consisted of three interviews: one behavioral, one case study (both similar to the first round) and one in-depth case study where you receive material beforehand and must present your conclusions during the interview.
Never really considered Diamond until I met the people before the first round which completely changed my perception about the firm.

Interviewed Apr 2010 in Chicago, IL (took 4+ weeks)
I was an expereienced hire candidate. Campus / inexperienced recruits go through a different process. Started with a phone screen with expereinece hire recruiter. Determination made to proceed by recruitrer and then they set up a one-on-one with a senior practitioner (principal or partner) in the industry I had experience. Senior practioner provides feedback to recruiter, where another "go/no-go" decision is made. Next scheduled to come into Chicago office on a Friday for a sequence of interviews to test presentation skills, analytical/problem solving skills, and fitness for available positions. Presentation is a short case study where you need to develop a short deck (5-7 slides) to address proposed approach or solution. You have about an hour to work on it and then present to first interviewer. Second interviewer will do more "what if" discussion to test your problem solving skills, and evaluate your approach (e.g., questions you ask, relating of relevant experience/situations). Finally, the last interview is with a more senior person assessing your fitness for available roles and overall fit into the firm and its culture. Since I beleive I fell short on the last interview, my recommendation is that you just be yourself, and if they don't think you're a good fit, you probably aren't meant to work there.
