Array list: getting the value if an object in a specific place is cheap, inserting in the end is cheap, any other insert (in the middle) is pricy and will cost moving all other values one place to the right.

Linked list: inserting element wherever we want is cheap, just changing prev, next. retrieving a value is a specific place is pricy, since we need to go through all the elements until that position.
