I applied online and interviewed at Dillard's.
Interview Details – Gave good eye contact, sold my skills, kept focus on the questions. I basically sold my employer why she should hire ME! Advice though if you are shy, you probably at most have a slim chance at getting hired. If you are shy i might ad practice your talking skills before going for an interview on a loved one or someone who is a great listener or mentor. they expect you to Be aggressive! You are selling yourself. Be confident. The whole point is this is selling and they want you to make your numbers if they hire you.. you wont make your goals if you don't have what it takes to get them interested in what it is you are selling. You are ringing your own clients and handling their merchandise as a consultant -or -we were rude if we don't talk with them.. So if we are shy we either don't look people in the eye or have something to hide we are told., customers will think we don't care they will go to someone else-- your compettion. Its a kind of battle but getting to know who we are dealing with offers more insight to what they might be shopping for. So often we hear as associates J"ust looking 'Customers aren't just looking something brought them into Dillardsthey are not just looking.

Very Easy Interview
I applied in-person and the process took 5 weeks - interviewed at Dillard's in January 2013.
Interview Details – Applied first on computer in the store office and was very quickly interviewed by a woman manager. She handed my a piece of crockery from a display and asked me to sell it to her. I asked for a second to look it over and saw i was labeled as dishwasher and microwave safe. I pointed out its nice decoration, then hit that the bonus was it was dishwasher and microwave safe. She said she liked me and wanted me to interview with the Men's manager soon but he was off that day. After waiting 3 weeks (!), I finally got to interview with him and he explained the sales position and responsibilities. He the passed me on to the hiring manager the next week. She asked me what I saw myself doing in 5 years. I said management. She immediately asked if I was prepared to move. I said yes as my son will be in college by then and I didnt want to do it until he finished high school. The next week I interviewed with the store manager, who had me sign some papers. I started trining the next week and was on the floor after two days of trining. All told, it took over 5 weeks to get through the interview process but I got the job finally.
