Marketing Intern Interview

Marketing Intern
Chicago, IL

I applied through college or university and interviewed at Discover.

Interview Details – I met the campus recruiters through the school career fair and attended a networking event shortly after. Had two 30-min interviews, mostly behavioral (but they asked a lot of specific questions about Discover) a few weeks later. After a month of so, I went to headquarters in Chicago, IL for final round interviews. That day consisted of a tour, 2 30-min interviews, 1 case study, a panel of current employees (where we got to ask them questions and a tour. Good experience overall

I applied online and the process took 3 weeks - interviewed at Discover.

Interview Details – Applied online via a school website. Was called in for an interview. It was 30 mins with one guy and 30 mins with the other. Nothing too unexpected but asked a lot about what I knew specifically about Discover and their services and how they were different from their competitors.

I applied online and the process took 2+ weeks - interviewed at Discover in April 2013.

Interview Details – I got an email about midway through March asking me to come down to their office. It was a 2 day process and we got put up in a hotel nearby. The first day was just dinner and although it seems friendly, I got the sense that I was being judged by the employees. No problem, that happens at all dinners I've been to with potential employees. The next day, I faced an orientation of sorts, before 3 30 minute long interviews. Most interviewers seemed little disinterested. I spent longer talking to one about her upcoming pregnancy than anything else but overall it was quite casual. Asked basic questions, nothing too surprising, and time went by faster than I thought. After, had a lunch break followed by a 'group discussion' where we were meant to talk about Discover. I recommend you really read up about Discover and it's products as it was obvious who had and hadn't. This is where they almost grill you and you know you're competing with the 4 people sat around you for that job. After, we had a pretty relaxed group presentation. They gave us 30 minutes to basically conduct a SWOT analysis of Discover. All in all, was good, not too grueling but READ UP about all their products, etc.

Interview Question – Nothing really here, just some easy maths   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – There was no negotiation, I was happy with their offer and accepted it within a few days.

I applied through college or university and interviewed at Discover.

Interview Details – Went to a job fair where I asked how to apply. Applied via a pretty long application through their website. I was notified for an interview about 2 weeks late. They came to my school and interviewed a lot of candidates. I then got notice of a second interview at their headquarters

Interview Question – Analytic questions where they want o see how you think. They will ask you something that no one would know off the top of their head and they want to see how you work to figure it out. Know your math!   Answer Question
