Director, Project Controls at Disney

No Offer – Interviewed in Burbank, CA Oct 2010 – Reviewed Mar 10, 2011

Interview Details – Applied online through Disney website; received email within a week. I had a first round phone interview lasting about 30 minutes. Disney HR for Parks & Resorts is in Florida, even though job was in Burbank/Glendale. Interviewer was very friendly, opened with the typical, "Tell me about yourself?" and "why do you want to work for Disney?" She explained the nature of the position, but would not discuss specifics or salary.

One interview at school followed by a "Super Saturday" type day at their offices. 4 people interviewed, I am the only one who received an offer to my knowledge. Production Artist at Disney

No Offer – Interviewed in Burbank, CA Feb 2010 – Reviewed Feb 5, 2010

Interview Details – Went through a standard interview with the manager who would be my immediate boss. The following week, they brought me in for a second interview with the VP of Marketing. Both interviews were fairly typical "tell me about yourself!" interviews. They did talk a bit about the Disney employee culture... how their clean-cut, family-friendly image suits some people and not others.

I didn't have to perform any skills tests. The only thing out of the ordinary is that I had to bring a LOT of paperwork with me to the first interview. Employment history, residential history, etc. Basically, I had to sign over permission for them to run very thorough background checks on me.

I haven't heard a final answer yet. The 2nd interview was only yesterday morning...

Director at Disney

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Burbank, CA Mar 2008 – Reviewed Mar 18, 2009

Interview Details – Detailed and extensive. Serial interviews with both peers and supervisors. The corporate culture is consensus based--the ability to network across, between, and internal to business lines is critical. The company likes a diversity of experience. Integrity and personal standards are also paramount. The process is extremely competitive --the company can basically hire who they want. Be prepared to find ways in which your experience goes above and beyond what they are looking for.

Interview Question – The standard --what is your greatest weakness.   View Answer

Negotiation Details – I did not negotiate. I would negotiate harder if I had it to do over again.
