Interviewed Jul 2011 (took 2 months)
Well, the interview was not very difficult. I submitted my resume online and at a local EJ office. The HR recruiter setup a time for the interview. She called at agreed upon time and asked me several “What would you do...?” “What did you do...?” questions. The interviewed lasted about an hour. Over a month later, I had an interview with the advisor in the local office. Two weeks later, I was offered the position.

Interviewed Apr 2012 (took 2 weeks)
Phone interview was conducted. Most of the questions were behaviorial or scenarios. After the initial phone interview my resume was forwarded to the Financial Advsior. Next the Financial Advisor contacted me for a face to face interview with a matter of 2 days from the phone interview from the home office. The interview with the Financial Advisor took approx 1.5 hours. After a week passed I had one more face to face interview then I received a phone call from the Financial Advisor with an offer.

Interviewed Mar 2012 (took 5 days)
The phone interview was very detailed and took about 20-30 minutes. They went over the application and then proceeded to ask questions. Many of the questions posed asked me to describe a work related event, the action taken and the result.

Interviewed Feb 2012 (took 4 weeks)
I applied on a weekend through the website, which just asked a few questions and I uploaded my resume. I received an email that Monday morning, inviting me to self schedule a phone interview with HR. I scheduled the interview for 2 days later on Wednesday, and then received a confirmation email with instructions to fill out a formal application and return it before the phone interview by fax.
The phone interview consisted of going through my whole application to verify what I answered, and then information she gave me about the company, including the fact I understood that if I was hired I would have to move any brokerage accounts I had to EJ or close them. Then a series of 5 or 6 beheavioral questions such as 'Tell me about a time when you had an irate customer, how you handled it, and what was the outcome? Be specific." and also 'Tell me what teamwork means to you.'
Because I had one job in which I was terminated, I had to explain the circumstances, and then follow up with an email for the compliance department with an explanation. She then concluded the interview by telling me she would forward the resumes of the top candidates to the Financial Advisor, and it would be about a week and I would be contacted either way if I would receive a f2f or if they had went with other candidates.
The next Monday, I received a call from the FA to set up an interview. We made it for that Friday, and although I don't think it was supposed to last that long, we talked for 2 hours. He had like 4 same type of behavioral questions he read off a paper, and the rest of the time we talked about the business. The next Monday, HR contacted me because the FA was supposed to collect 2 to 3 references at the interview, and she said he was highly interested in me and could I email him the info, which I did. About 30 minutes later, one of my references called me to tell me the FA had already contacted them.
The next day (on Tuesday) HR contacted me and made an offer late in the afternoon. She went over alot of info, and then said I could accept, decline, or call her back with my decision. I decided to call her the next morning. The only reason I was hesitant is because first, I have a Series 7 and series 24 licenses, and they would not carry my 24. Also, because the FA is not at a certain level with his business, they would not carry my 7 at this time. I have 11 months before my 7 expires, and if he gets to the required level, they will carry it.
The second reason was because I also had another opportunity on the table in a completely different industry, and I was deciding which way to go. On Wednesday I accepted the offer.
Once I accepted, I received an email with info to get fingerprinted, and my background check process was started. I had to wait until my background check cleared, and then I would be given a start date.
She told me the background check would take 14-16 days to complete, and was actually finished on the 12th calendar day. She then called and we set my start date for the next Monday.
So all in all the whole process took almost 4 weeks.

Negotiation Details
I did not negotiate. When you apply online and on your hard copy application, you state what the MINIMUM you would accept, and they verify this with you in your phone interview. Right up front the job posting and the HR person stated the pay range (which was high 20s to low 30s depending on experience). Since I have experience, I stated my minimum as closer to the top of the range, and when they made the offer, they actually topped it.
So, take into consideration the economy, how much experience you have and how interested you are in the job before stating your minimum salary. That way you know if youare selected for the position, at least you won't be disappointed with the salary offer.
