Elance Interview Questions & Reviews
Getting an Interview
Information Security Architect Interview (Negative Experience; Average Interview)
I applied online and the process took 4+ weeks - interviewed at Elance in February 2014.
Interview Details – Caught the posting via Indeed and applied directly. Telephone interview with HR recruiter and hiring managers went well; brought onsite for 4 hour in person interviews (6 people total, 30 to 45 min each). Position seemed to be created due to some DDOS attacks they have been subject to, merger with their competitor, etc. Sadly, it is an individual contributor role under a VP in IT - immediate conflict of interest. Good luck getting any buy in from the C levels for your efforts.
Things seemed to go well - and then no feedback at all.
Over a month passes, reached out by some body shop headhunter looking for a Security architect - guess where? Yep, elance. Asked headhunter for feedback, was supposed to hear back from him by the end of the day. It has been a week, nothing - and the headhunter will not return calls.
Country Representative Interview (Positive Experience; Average Interview)
The process took a day - interviewed at Elance in June 2012.
Interview Details – They Asked me 10 Questions while filling the application and i got an interview date .
Interview Question – How would you add to the success of elance ? Answer Question
Very Difficult Interview
Software Engineer Interview (Negative Experience; Very Difficult Interview)
The process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Elance in March 2012.
Interview Details – They asked typical questions you'll find anywhere online. The only bad thing was that their VP of engineering asked a question that didn't have a solution and insisted there was an answer. You can find the question at Quora under the title:
"Job Interview Questions: There are 8 balls. 7 of them weigh the same. 1 of them has a different weight, (you don't know if it's heavier or lighter). How do you find the odd ball with 2 weighs?"
(Glassdoor doesn't allow links)
Proof of a lack of a solution is at GeeksforGeeks under the title:
" Decision Trees – Fake (Counterfeit) Coin Puzzle (12 Coin Puzzle)"
The VP was also 25-30 minutes late to the interview and did not acknowledge it and was borderline hostile. But the other people were well-mannered.
Interview Question – See the Quora post:
