Analyst Interview

Analyst
Denver, CO

I applied online - interviewed at Encana in January 2014.

Interview Details – I applied online. After a brief interview, I was asked to visit EnCana's Denver office for an in-person interview. I talked with several managers. They were all polite. I answered all of their questions as professionally and intelligently as I could. One interviewer looked me in the eye and said she would contact me to let me know the outcome of the hiring decision. Another manager told me I would hear the decision by the end of the week. I left the building with a positive feeling. Then nothing. No one at EnCana bothered to give me notice of their rejection. I was left to wonder in silence. The promised communication was a lie. This is the height of unprofessionalism in my view.

Interview Question – Does fracking pollute the water table?   Answer Question

Interview Question – Explain a time where you felt like you failed, and what you did to overcome that.   Answer Question

I applied through a recruiter and the process took 4 weeks - interviewed at Encana in February 2010.

Interview Details – Contacted by recruiter that Encana had contracted with. Submitted resume after several phone conversations. I was then contacted by the Encana inside recruiter. She setup the interview process. I went to the Encana office and spent the full day interviewing. I met with 3 different groups ranging from coworkers to managers. Encana did a very thorough job of checking references. They had each reference do a phone interview with a rating process. I received an offer. I initially turned it down. But they kept calling me back until I accepted.

Interview Question – None of the questions were difficult. They focused on experience. Why I was considering leaving my current employer. How do you handle or deal with coworkers. I felt it was a typical interview.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – I was happy with what was offered. I did not negotiate.
