    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral – interviewed at EverBank Financial (Jacksonville, FL) in March 2015.

    Interview

I was referred for the position by an internal recruiter. There was not a job posting or job description available which was unfortunate. This is not helpful to a candidate if roles, company culture and language are different from industry to industry. For example you are not sure if it is an individual contributor role or a leadership role with direct team accountability. During the interview I requested an overview, but the hiring manager was still very vague and never let on exactly what they were looking for.

    Interview Questions

    • Do you think it is more important to follow structure, guidelines, and/or processes, or to deviate in order to get the job done quicker and cheaper? I rated this interview very difficult as it was not helpful to me being in the dark about their requirements for the role.   Answer Question

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at EverBank Financial in March 2015.

    Interview

Began with HR contacting me to set up phone interview. Phone interview was rescheduled once, then held at the schedule date and time. This went well, and the hiring manager mostly talked about the company and the job. I had to interject myself a lot to have myself heard. The hiring manager asked me to continue with the process, so I agreed. Because I was an out of town applicant, I asked to do a Skype interview. The hiring manager said that he'd work it out with HR and see what they could do. One week later, I had to contact the HR representative to ask about my Skype interview. She said that she wasn't sure if they would be able to do one due to company restrictions, so I may have to fly down (which they did not offer to pay for). I expressed my apprehension at doing so, so she said she would contact me once she knew the answer. I had to contact her again and ask for an update the next week. She said they could do the Skype interview, but she wasn't sure when the hiring manager would be able to do so because he was out of the office that week and she would call me when he returned. I called her back the following week, and she put me on his schedule for a date and time he had open for a Skype interview. She called 30 minutes before the scheduled time of the interview and said they would need to reschedule because Skype was not installed on the hiring manager's computer in time. So we rescheduled for the next week. She contacted me the day of the interview once more to say that they could no longer do a Skype interview and I would need to fly down for an in-person interview if I wished to continue the process. Seeing as this whole process had already taken a month of my time, and also because I'd had to take time off from work during this process, I was less than pleased. I informed them that because of the costs of the plane tickets to the area, I would be unable to fly down the next week as they desired, and would only be able to fly down three weeks from the date I was speaking to her. The HR representative did not like the answer I gave and said she would see what the hiring manager said. I called the next week and suddenly the Skype interview was back on, but she didn't schedule a date as the hiring manager was once again out of town. She said she would call me when she had a date for me. I contacted her the following week and did not hear back from her. Today, two months into the ordeal, I received a voicemail from the HR representative saying that the position had been filled and that they would like for me to continue applying for other positions once I've moved into the area again.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6+ weeksinterviewed at EverBank Financial (Jacksonville, FL) in March 2015.

    Interview

I applied online in early February. I was contacted mid March to come in for an interview. I was out of town so I had a phone interview with the manager of the program along with four other people I would be working with, if hired. It was a bit intense, but I was asked to come in for a final interview. This time I met with the Treasury Manager for an hour. Then I went out to lunch with the employees that I initially had the phone interview with. The employees are young with a great attitude. I was not offered the position, but the recruiter has told me about a few other opportunities with the company I am going to pursue.

    Interview Questions

    • The phone interview was mostly behavioral questions. The interview with the Treasury Manager was more technical, specifically Excel and finance related topics.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeksinterviewed at EverBank Financial in May 2013.

    Interview

Got a call from recruiter a day or two after applying online. Great conversation, recommended to hiring manager the next day (phone). Had a face-to-face interview a week later. Then had 2 more phone conversations with 2 different people 2 weeks after that.

    Interview Questions

    • Questions were appropriate, covered my experience and qualifications for the position. The 4th person I talked to (I had a total of 5 interviews) was close to being rude, very critical of my experience and job knowledge, which had already been covered well by the recruiter and hiring manager. A few days later I was contacted by the recruiter (who was absolutely awesome) and informed that another candidate was being considered. I'm not sure if the 4th interviewer was having a bad day or why her tone was very different from the other 3 individuals I talked to. I don't know why I wasn't selected over someone else, I can only speculate. It was very disappointing to go through 5 interviews and end up without an offer.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through college or university – interviewed at EverBank Financial (Redmond, WA) in May 2013.

    Interview

Applied through campus jobs site and was interviewed on campus for a financial position. I was then passed through for an on site interview, but this time in sales/marketing. Both of these interviews were highly conversational and enjoyable experiences. I gained a real connection with the people I was interviewing. They hire the person, not the skills, though it doesn't hurt to have some.

    Interview Questions

    • Nothing unexpected, but I had success with being able to talk about their business because I had some past experiences. Doing your homework and actually having an opinion on the issues gets you far in these interviews.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

Yes, I was weighing other options and talking with a recruiter over the phone about my timing.
