Interviewed Jul 2010 in Bellevue, WA (took 1+ week)
I interviewed with seven people. Some interviews were 1 hour some were 30 minutes. The interviewer's skill levels were varied amonth the group. All were kind. Some just wanted to "chit chat" others had clear objectives for the interview. I twas good that i had studied up on the company and product as I was asked specific "what would you recommend in this situation" kinds of questions.

Interviewed Jan 2008 in Bellevue, WA (took 2 weeks)
Everyone was very nice. One of the hiring managers got off track commiserating about an executive of a former company we both worked for; that was a shame because it left little time to talk about how I could contribute to the group. A potential colleague asked if I would be OK working in a multicultural work environment (of course I would). At a second interview the hiring manager gave me a competency test, but from the start it seemed like this person didn't have a connection with me; more like they were forced to meet with me, and that was a turn-off. In the end I was not offered a position, but I'm glad for the experience and the people I met along the way.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Bellevue, WA (took a day)
After applying online I was contacted and about a week later I had a phone interview that lasted for almost an hour. It was more of a conversation than an interview, and I did fairly well, we didn't click though and I didn't feel very excited about the job.
I got a promise about getting back to me which they didn't keep, expected of course, but I think that's common curtesy. After applying to other jobs where they've stalled for 2 months now, I no longer consider jobs at Expedia.

Interviewed Nov 2008 in Bellevue, WA (took 2 weeks)
It was a phone screen by the HR. They call me in for a face to face. The HR guys screens me again for an hour and puts me in an interview with seven people who screen me individually for seven hours!! So, the interview happens for eight hours in total and everyone seems happy. After the longweekend, I receive an email saying that they are interested and they want to extend an offer and then I was scheduled to go in and sign the offer on the Following week. I was getting ready to go and the HR emails me again saying that they position went on hold!!! This is weird!!!

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Bellevue, WA (took a day)
I was contacted via email by a recruiting coordinator who asked a few questions by email, such as why I would be a good fit for the position, and what my salary expectations were. A phone interview was set up, which lasted about half an hour. I was asked to describe my past experiences and asked about specific skill sets I possessed, such as Excel. I was a bit surprised when I was told about the salary and benefits during the call - I thought it was too soon to discuss it. I didn't feel like I struck a good connection with the recruiter, since the interviewer stuck to a seemingly standard list of questions and showed no interest in my answers. I waited for 2 weeks before emailing to inquire about the results, and was then told that they'd found more suitable candidates.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Bellevue, WA (took 4 weeks)
After applying online, I was quickly contacted by the hiring manager and an in person interview was scheduled. The first round of interviews consisted of 1:1 interviews with the hiring manager and the IT manager that this positions would replace(the former manager was retiring). Overall, this interview went well, though the actual job was much more operations focused, than the original job description I had applied to.
After a couple of days, I was brought back to have a series of interviews with the peer managers of this position. Each interviewer had a slightly different set of questions, which ranged from higher level management/behavioral questions, down to detailed technical questions. Overall, a competent and informative interview process.
I was then called back for another round of in person interviews with the departmental general managers. This round went well enough and the interviews were more of a check for fit at this point. I left this round of interviews fairly confident, having gotten through 3 rounds of in person interviews.
I was then told that a final hiring decision would be made in 7 to 10 days. I contacted the hiring manager after 10 days and he said a decision would be made in another couple days. The next day, I was approached by a consulting firm that wanted me to apply to the same position as a contract to hire resource (90 day). They mentioned the hiring managers name. This perturbed me, given that I perceived this as bait and switch with my original application for a full time job.
I ended up talking with the hiring manager again and he mentioned that I got a thumbs down from one of the final interviewers. However, there was still a good chance of me being hired, should they be unable to find a contract-to-hire position.
A couple weeks passed and I was approached to come back and panel interview with the team again. However, in the course of trying to schedule this interview, the hiring manager dropped contact and did not respond to any additional queries of mine.
Overall, the interview process, up to the point where the full time position was switched to a contract-to-hire, was competently ran, challenging and informative. Dropping contact and switching the position, was unprofessional and highly annoying, given the hours I spent interviewing and preparing for this job. The end result, left a bitter taste in my mouth and a wish that companies would actually close out the hiring/interviewing process in a professional manner.

Reason for Declining
I was applying as a full time resource and a switch to a contract to hire position, was not acceptable.

Data structure related questions. Algorithms and white boarding question over the phone. like

2"Write a function that will return the number of days in a month (no using System.DateTime)
3.Write a function that inserts an integer into a linked list in ascending order. Write the test cases for this function..
4.Given an array of characters which form a sentence of words, give an efficient algorithm to reverse the order of the words (not characters) in it.
5.Give a very good method to count the number of ones in a "n" (e.g. 32) bit number.

7Write a routine in C for the above. Given an array of characters. How would you reverse it. ? How would you reverse it without using indexing in the array.
And some tricky questions like There are four dogs/ants/people at four corners of a square of unit distance. At the same instant all of them start running with unit speed towards the person on their clockwise direction and will always run towards that target. How long does it take for them to meet and where?
