Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Express Fashion in November 2013.
Interview Details – The interview as a group interview I was a little self conscious being that the other two girls had on suites and I had on black skinny jeans and a black dress top blouse. Overall she asked us fairly simple questions why do you want to work for express availability and have we ever worked a cash register before. After the interview was over and as I'm walking to my car she calls and offers me the job and Friday I have orientation. SUPER STOKED!!!!!
Interview Question – How would you describe a sale vs customer service. Answer Question

Very Easy Interview
I applied online and the process took 3 days - interviewed at Express Fashion in October 2013.
Interview Details –
I applied online one night and got a call the next day to set up an interview. I was in class and was unable to answer the phone so the manager left a message. When I called back we set up an interview for the very next day at 4:30. So the whole process took 3 days to actually apply, get called for the interview, and have the interview. It was probably so quick because it was in in October so they were hiring people for the upcoming holidays. When i applied online it didn't say anything about it being a seasonal position, it only said "sales associate" but I wasn't too surprised it was seasonal. The interview was at the store I applied to. I showed up 10 minutes earlier then the scheduled time. I had to wait about 10-15 minutes because the manager was busy interviewing another person. They had a lot of people scheduled for interviews that day. The interview was suppose to be a one on one, but since he was the only one interviewing, it was backed up. He decided to interview me and this other girl together which at first I was nervous about obviously because you have no idea who this other person is and what advantages they have on you, but it was easy and once we got into it I wasn't nervous at all. We were interview in the back of the store behind some registers that weren't being used. We were all standing up, which was the first interview i had that was like this but i feel like it was more relaxed and not super super professional. The manager interviewing us was really nice and friendly. He had our applications in his hand and the first thing he asked was for our references. I made sure that I had a hard copy of my resume with references on them to give to him, which made it a lot easier and he was happy about. He didn't talk about our availability, hours or pay which i thought was weird but we had all that written out on our applications so I guess there was no need to discuss it, and especially since it wasn't a private one on one. He had this like evaluation pad that he used to asks us questions and like grade us on our answers. He explained how he usually asked 10 questions but since he was doing 2 people at once he would do 5 questions each. (the questions will be in the next section!!) When we answered the questions he would like reply back and like make a conversation about it which was nice. He explained how the position we applied for is pretty much a seasonal position and he stressed how even though it was seasonal, if we do our job it is most likely they will keep us for good. He was explaining how we need to be able to talk to customer and not just fold clothes and sweep floors. He really wanted us to be able to sell and communicate with customers. He was very real with us and told it like it is which I liked. He said how express is a great place to work and that of we ever needed help we could always go to another employee or manager for advise. If we ever are in an uncomfortable situation we could go to someone (bec you know there are sometimes creeps that come in haha) he said how most employees had walky talkys so thats how they communicate. When we ended it he said how he really liked us both and that we would most likely get a call back for the job. He just needed to check our references. That is something that he said they take seriously is the references. The express was in the mall so i think the rule of having to actually check the referenced came from the mall not express because he was like "I know its annoying but i'm required to check them"
And another thing, at the time of the interview I was still working at another job. Since i wasn't getting a lot of hours there I applied to express. The manager said that they are fine with me working two jobs but I just have to make sure that i try the best i can to work out the hours. So he was open about having two jobs. I didn't want to completely quit my other job to go to express because it was a seasonal position and it was guaranteed that I would work there even after the holidays. So for right now I am going to keep both jobs and see how it goes.
As for hours he said we would really get no more then 25 hours a week.
Im still waiting to get called to see if i got the position.
Interview Question –
He asked me and the other girl 5 questions. 2 of the were the same for both of us and the other 3 were different.
He asked the other girl: what do you think the difference between making a sale and customer service is?
He asked me: What would you do if you had to sell something to a customer that you rejected?
He asked us both: Describe a time where you had a conflict or difficult time with another co worker or customer?
And What did you dislike about your previous job?
I really forget what else he asked us but it was nothing hard. All basic and really easy to answer. Answer Question

I applied online and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Express Fashion.
Interview Details – One of the easiest interviews ever!! I applied in early September and got a call on 9/30 for an interview. The interview was basic questions on customer service and what would you do situations. I got a call back with an offer and I accepted. Very easy.
Interview Question –
All of the questions were simple an example:
How do you keep up with fashion trends?
What tasks did you do at your old job? Answer Question
Negotiation Details – No negotiation it is an entry level position.
I applied through college or university and the process took 1 week - interviewed at Express Fashion.
Interview Details – Two managers attended a job fair held at my university. I wore a nice blouse and white pants for a good impression, and I'm glad I did because the managers practically interviewed me right there! I filled out a paper application and received a call the next day for an interview. I looked at Express' online store to see what clothes would be more appealing to wear, and considering I didn't have much professional stuff, I wore a nice white blouse with some dark skinny jeans and flats (in retail, they care more about whether you'll represent the brand well). It was a group interview with 7 others that was supposed to last only 30 minutes. The assistant manager first went around the group and asked for job experience. He then pointed at each person to ask a specific question, sometimes the same as the last. The experience was much easier and less nerve wracking than I thought it would be because of how easygoing and funny the manager acted with us. I practiced some of the questions from some of these older posts, kept attentive eye contact with everyone there, smiled and nodded a lot, and sat up straight while answering with confidence.
Negotiation Details – No negotiation; minimum wage no matter what you want.

I applied online and the process took 2 weeks - interviewed at Express Fashion in April 2013.
Interview Details – There were 12 people at my interview. I got called back right after for the job, so here's what I did in order to get it: 1.) I stood out. Our interviewer's questions were optional, since there were so many people and it would take forever for us all to answer each question. However, I raised my hand for each one. 2.) I spoke loud and clear. The music is loud. Some candidates spoke very quietly and the interviewer often had to strain her neck to try to hear. 3.) BE EARLY! I was the first one there, and the interviewer complimented the earliest people's punctuality. 4.) Dress fasionable. Express a love for fashion. 5.) shake hands, even though the interviewer may not come right to you and offer a handshake. 6.) Smile a lot, especially whenever you make eye contact with the interviewer. Be happy and cheerful! 7.) If/when the interviewer asks if you have any questions for them, ask something. I asked what a typical work day was like.
Interview Question – (The interviewer said): "Please act like I'm a customer. Come up to me and explain to me today's store sales." (The question was optional for us all since there were so many people getting interviewed) Answer Question
I applied online and the process took a day - interviewed at Express Fashion in April 2013.
Interview Details – Group interview with 10 other people. Don't need to answer every question but I recommend you do because they like a person who speaks up more often. Asked about latest fashion trends, how you would approach a customer, what do you like about the customer service, what would make a good employee.
Interview Question – Demonstration scenario where one of the mangers pretends to be a customer and you would have to demonstrate how you would approach to them and tell them about the store sales and promotion offers. View Answer
