Interviewed Nov 2011 (took a day)
It was one interview, and the store manager asked how I came to the decision that I wanted to work at Express, what I knew about the brand, how their clothes were different from other apparel stores, and if I think I'd make a good fit at the store.

Interviewed Feb 2012 (took a day)
I applied online, not really expecting I'd get a call, but I did about 2 weeks later, I think. I was told it would be a group interview and to tell an associate when I got there. On the day of the interview (I think it was Tuesday or Wednesday), I got there right on time and told an employee that I was there for a group interview. I was told to pick out an outfit in the store and wait for the manager to get there. She got there a few minutes after, running late because of traffic, and she led us to the back. There were 3 other people besides myself and we sat in a circle with the outfits we picked out. The manager was very friendly and easygoing. First she asked if any of us had been in a group interview before & I was the only one who hadn't, so she explained a little about why Express did group interviews. Then she talked a little bit about herself & what the interview would be like. First she asked us to tell her about ourselves, then describe the outfit we picked out. We went in order around the circle for the first part; for the other questions, it was basically a first come, first serve kind of thing. I think the interview lasted a little over 30 minutes. Then we were told about what Express sales associates were like & what they did. Afterwards, she asked us if we had any questions. I dressed professionally in a black blazer & pants, but the 2 other guys dressed more casually and the other girl wore a flowy black & white top and a black skirt (she was dressed really well). We were told that if we were hired, we'd get a call back by next Wednesday. I never got a call back, but I really doubted it because I was so nervous during the interview even though she said we could relax & all that. I also think my appearance was off-putting because I don't think I was dressed like I should be working at Express unlike the other girl, & I had bright blue bangs - when I asked if there were any restrictions/rules appearance/hair-wise, adding that I would be willing to change my hair color, the manager said she really liked my hair, but yes, there were Express rules on appearances.

Interviewed Dec 2010 in Arlington, VA (took a day)
I luckily had the opportunity to be promoted within Express, before my departure from the company, as a interview/screener of applicants.
First of all, it is always better to turn your application in directly to a manager. That way you can put a face to the application they are reviewing. Managers are always looking for energetic, fun, and fashion oriented applicants. They want these individuals to look professional BUT fun and into fashion.
During the interview it is very important to have a personality. You would be surprised how many interviewees come in with lackluster and mundane attitudes and personalities. Express want's associates with drive, ambition, and eagerness. Even if you already have a full-time job and you are just looking for part-time work with great benefits and discounts, Express wants you to at least be someone with ambition and excitement. This really needs to come off in your interview.
Questions are fairly easy one's around "Tell me about yourself", "What do you do for fun", "Why do you like Express", "Why would you be a good fit here", etc. Their pretty much screener questions to see your ambition, interaction, and level of professionalism.
One last important detail. When putting in your availability it is ALWAYS (and this is usually the case with most Express store locations) important that you are available weekends and most weekends. If you currently available weekends and their might be a possibility later that your weekend availability might change, still indicate you're available. Your availability can be changed once you've got the position and explain it with management.

Interviewed Mar 2011 (took 2 weeks)
I applied online through their website, giving job experience and information from my resume, then received a call asking whether I could come in for an interview. The next week I went in for an interview with the co-manager. Asked me basic questions like tell me about yourself, how does your experience apply to the position, what are your strengths and weaknesses, and what is your availability. After that day, they called references a couple days later, then called me with an offer.
