I was first invited to dinner on campus. I had another outstanding offer and they were very accommodating. Quickly did first round phone interview and then they sent me to Houston the next week for 2 more interviews. Interview Process was very structured and thorough. All interviews were very relaxed and conversational.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ monthsinterviewed at ExxonMobil in April 2014.

    Interview Details

I had a screening interview at a prior military hiring conference. The interview lasted 45 minutes starting with me telling about myself. The interviewer did most of the talking and me asking most of the questions. One month later they contacted me for a follow up interview. Another month later the follow up interview process started. First, I had dinner with two Project Engineers the evening before the interviews. On the actual interview day, I had breakfast with Project Engineers as they were explained the benefits to me. The remainder of the day was back to back interviews with several people. Since I already have work experience, the interview questions were geared more towards my past work history and background. My final interview ended with the interviewer telling me that an offer will be sent. Two weeks later, I received the official offer.

I applied through college or university. The process took a dayinterviewed at ExxonMobil in October 2013.

    Interview Details

I met the Exxon recruiters at a career fair and info session. They reviewed my resume and asked me to interview the next day. The interview was behavior based and was very results oriented. If I did not explicitly state, "the results of my actions were...", then the interviewer would ask "what was the result".

    Interview Questions
    • There were surprisingly a lot of questions related to coursework and classes (i.e. favorite class, most valuable course experience, proudest achievement in college). I found it odd that the answers were limited to specifically class examples and not also work experiences.   Answer Question

I applied through college or university. The process took 3+ monthsinterviewed at ExxonMobil in September 2013.

    Interview Details

There was one interview only. The structure was half discussion about items on my resume and half STAR questions. The interviewer wrote down almost every response I had, and also took notes about my attire, smiling, general disposition. He wrote almost 2 pages of notes in the hour session. He gave me a combination of specific situation questions and open-ended questions that allowed me to talk about any achievement or experience I had in mind. Some people warned me that my particular interviewer was very mechanical or impersonal, but I felt he was very professional and was personal enough. I really enjoyed speaking with him.

    Interview Questions
    • After a set of specific questions, he asked: "Ok now while I write down some notes, I'd like to come up with a few items that we may have missed. Anything at all you want to mention."   View Answer
