Training Store Manager at Family Dollar Stores

Accepted Offer – Reviewed Jul 26, 2012

Interview Details – The online application for all positions will attempt to shake out the undesirable candidates. Try not to over-think your answers to the questions on the application. Those that do, tend to score poorly, or find themselves eliminated from the game before it starts.

Interviewing for a Store Manager position with Family Dollar is painless. The District Manager conducts the interviews alone with potential candidates. Those with a previous military background tend to be looked at quite favorably. A simple background check and an offsite drug test are required for further consideration should the interview go well.

Interview Question – Typically there is no trick question throughout the interview process, a general assessment of an individual's general attitude is being conducted throughout the process. We can train talent to do anything, we can't train you to have an upbeat positive outlook in tough situations.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – During original salary negotiations, I was able to gain an additional $150/week by standing firm on what it would take for me to leave my current employer to join Family Dollar Stores. Of course I was ready to stay where I was at should they not meet my conditions.
