Interviewed Nov 2010 in Boston, MA (took 2 days)
I applied through the campus recruiting website at Boston College, and was scheduled for a first round interview, which consisted of two half hour interviews which stressed leadership and communication skills, respectively. I was selected for a second round interview at the World Trade Center in Boston and went through six more half hour interviews. The second round was ridiculous, each interviewer asked me very similar questions and it seems all they were testing was stamina and willingness to get through the day to prove that you wanted to work for Fidelity. Pre-interview breakfast and post-interview lunch were provided, but these each lasted an hour, which combined with the six interviews made the day much too long.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
People seemed really uptight and there was no visible culture. One associate told me that someone had been fired for playing fantasy football at work....really?
Other Details
I got the interview through a College or University and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interview was not that engaging and the people did not seem to have a strong sense of what the company culture was.

Interviewed May 2008 in Boston, MA (took 2 weeks)
I interviewed for the a highly competitive equity research opportunity. The interview process is extensive and difficult. I met with 6 portfolio managers and 2 directors of research. They were clearly looking for very bright people that stood behind their convictions. It was a very thorough process and I felt strongly that they were looking for the best and brightest. The PMs were extremely smart and encouraged a give and take in the interview.

Interviewed Jun 2010 in Boston, MA (took a day)
They called me a month after I applied on the website, then brought me in for an interview. Interviews were pleasant, but getting follow-up feedback was pretty much impossible. I met with all the people I'd be working with, and for the most part they asked very reasonable questions. A few of the silly 'what is your greatest weakness' type questions. People seemed very happy there, and Fidelity seems like a good company. But they need to work on their HR process a bit in terms of initial length of time and follow-up behavior.

Interviewed Jan 2010 in Boston, MA (took 2 months)
Professional Recruiter from Fidelity contacted me about a position. Very professional phone screen, reviewed my resume with the Hiring Manager and flew me to Boston for 2 days of interviews. All were on time and very professional. All understood the position, all had read my resume, all had relevant questions. Great feedback from the recruiter after the interview. Hiring manager sent warm response to Thank you. Then communications stalled for 3 weeks with weekly emails saying we want to come back . . . we are interested . . .we want you to meet the bosses boss. Then sporadic communication from the recruiter saying that they were very busy but when could I meet over the next 4 weeks. Finally we arranged a call and the recruiter said they were going with an internal candidate.

Interviewed Mar 2008 in Boston, MA (took 4 weeks)
Hiring process for IT at Fidelity can last 2 to 8 weeks depending on the group and title. It is not uncommon to have an initial screen by HR and then several rounds of interviews with the IT satff. First in-person interview I met with 4 people 1/2 hour each. Was invited back for several more rounds, each with at least 3 other people. At this particular group at Fidelity, it seemed as though everyone on the team got to weigh-in on prospective hires, but of course the hiring manager (SVP) called all the shots.

Interviewed Feb 2009 in Boston, MA (took 2 months)
First I have an interview with someone at my school. They I was invited to a second round of interview where I interview with at least 6 VP and managers. each one for half and hour. After that i was invited at lunch with my future workmates. I was not intrested on the job. And I think that on the lunch in a relaxed environmnet it was clear. I was not surprised that I didn't get an offer

Interviewed Dec 2008 in Boston, MA (took 3 days)
The interview was three part. First was the HR folks, then with some of the staff, then a third time with some of the leadership.
Good folks but the downturn in the economy impacted their operations and ability to bring on more staff.
All of the folks were polite and professional.
Good process.
