Interviewed Aug 2011 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took 6 weeks)
First round assessment Centre consists of group exercise which is filmed and watched by psychologists from the external recruitment firm, you're in a group of 6 people, try and remember their names and include the more quiet members of the team in the discussion. Then you take a paper version of the online numerical test. You are then given an e-tray exercise, basically answering an email giving your recommendations.
Second round assessment: competency based interview with two FSA managers, lasts about 45 minutes. You are then given information that you need to analyse, summerise and present to two managers, they will ask questions about your findings.

Interviewed Aug 2009 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
Applied for the role on the firm's website. Was invited for a financial appraisal interview days later. I was informed of my success the following day and was slated for a phone interview couple of days later. The phone interview lasted about 40minute. the interviewer was nice but very pragmatic. I was asked about my knowledge and interest in the FSA, amongst other questions. I did not progress beyond this stage

Interviewed Mar 2010 in London, England (United Kingdom) (took a day)
Was grilled by two senior managers from Major Retail Group and Insurance supervision. It was unusual in that the interviewers seemed geared to challenge every single point you make, right from the first question to the last.

Interviewed Dec 2009 in City of London, England (United Kingdom) (took 3 months)
Initial interview was a role playing interview with actors which was filmed throughout - quite initimidating and a very unusual experience. Also an online numeracy test which focused on accountancy skills predominantly. The organisation of these interviews was escellent and the people I dealt with were very friendly and professional. A final interview with a senior manager which was quite relaxed and at the FSA headquarters - all very professional and friendly once again. Three months down the line I am still being told that I am being considered for a role which is incredibly frustrating.
