Interviewed Mar 2012 in Charlotte, NC (took a day)
The regional recruiter contacted me to attend an on site "presentation" and meet with the manager. The regional recruiter did not conduct a phone interview, offer information about the organization, or the position. I was curious about the opportunity and attended the interview where I was greeted by approximately 10 other candidates who had no idea we all were being interviewed for the same position. I had did research on Glassdoor the night before but unfortunately I had already traveled 3 hours to get there. All of the previous reviews are accurate. It is a group setting where the manager tries to sell you their organization at the very end she says it is 100% commission but tries to equate it to doctor and lawyer practices. Then she called us into the room for a 1:1 where she asked about 3 questions and then offered me back for a second interview. I accepted but I will not be wasting my gas or time to go back.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
100% commission and they were more interested in talking about themselves then getting to know the candidates. Also, the job description and the interview process showed that they are not selective at all.
Other Details
The interview consisted of a Group/Panel Interview.

Interviewed Feb 2012 (took 2 days)
Recruiter called me after I made contact with the company at a career fair. I set up an interview date, went to the office and first participated in a group presentation where we learned as a group a bit more information about First Investors. Then we went off and had 1:1 interviews with the manager. I was asked questions about my education, my experience, my motivation and my long-term goals for my career.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in New York, NY (took a day)
The position is 100% commission based, so given that you have any education and are not socially inept, they will offer you a position. I attended an info session, during which they had everyone fill out an application. They will hound you for days and weeks after until you talk to them - they're nice people, but they do come off somewhat desperate. If you are willing to cold call and are interested in sales, you can make decent money. The job isn't for everyone though.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Not interested in an entirely commission based position, not interested in cold calling.

The interview consisted of a Phone Interview.

Interviewed Jan 2012 in Columbus, OH (took a day)
Showed up to find that it was not a 1:1 interview, rather they seat you in a room with about 5-10 others and a manager gives you a sale pitch about the job. Salary is 100% commission, which they are reluctant to tell you in the 1st interview, however, I got it out of an employee who does a simple 1:1 interview after the presentation. Not for me, declined 2nd interview.

Interviewed Jan 2012 (took a day)
The interview process started with a representative giving the group a somewhat detailed presentation of the types of things the company does and what we could expect in the future. After the initial presentation, each candidate had a one on one interview. The interview is fairly simple. They ask you some background questions and some questions about your resume/experience.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
I didn't feel that the position was right for me because the salary is based on commission. Consequently, it would be very difficult for me to budget for my expenses.

I got the interview through a Recruiter and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Oct 2011 (took 2 days)
The interview process was not that challenging. If you have a personable attitude, you don't appear intimidated, and you can ask questions, then you will likely get the position. First Investors Corp. is seeking to expand a lot in the next couple of years, so I thought that I was easily hired. Plus, my competition did not seem tough (I went to a top 50 university in the US).

Negotiation Details
There's no negotiating. The First day you come in after they offer you the position, they immediately start having you sign papers (to get ready for exams, fingerprints) and you end up paying for these things too (about $220 - make sure u have that amount in ur credit/debit card). it was kind of confusing at the time, even having read the fine print stuff.
They also really don't like to emphasize that you don't have a salary. They say that you get paid off commission, but i had to ask directly if I was going to get any money soon. They said that the compensation only starts after I pass the exams (after 4-6 weeks).

The first step in the interview process is a presentation with other candidates present. It took about three hours and they provided lunch. I decided I wasn't interested in pursuing the opportunity further.

Interviewed Nov 2010 in San Antonio, TX (took 2 days)
stay far away... this place seemed like a really poor knockoff of boiler room or something. they sit you in a room with the other interviewees and they show you a video and try to sell you on the company. afterwards, they bring you into a room and ask one to two COMPLETELY impertinent questions and then ask you to come back the next day. i felt they wasted enough of my time, so i e-mailed them when i got home and politely declined.
Reason for Declining
oh, and the salary starting out? NONE. ZIP. ZILCH. NADA.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 2 days)
First of all, if you are called in to interview for this position, decline. It is a complete scam.
I got to their office and sat down in a conference room with 4 or 5 other potential recruits. The office manager then proceeded to give us a nearly 3 hour ppt presentation which was essentially a sales pitch for the position. Many fun phrases like "unlimited earnings potential" and "manage an office in three years" were used. I realised soon that no legit job would have to spend this much effort convincing prospective hires that they should work there.
Afterwards I had a 15 or 20 minute 1:1 interview with the manager. It became apparent during this interview that I probably knew more about finance than he did. He asked me vague personality-type questions which are easy to BS. Though I knew the job wasn't legit, my philosophy is never turn down a job until you have the offer, so I decided to go in for the second round the next day.
The next day, we had to sit through ANOTHER 3 hour presentation which was largely overlapping with the first. In the 1:1 interview, I asked some key questions about the position which were not addressed during the presentation. Here's what I learned: A) the position has no base salary and is 100% commission paid. B) the training is not paid--in fact you have to pay nearly $1000 out of your own pocket for it. C) the company does not supply leads to you--you are expected to build your own network out of preexisting contacts (i.e. family and friends). D) there are NO benefits. I had no reservations about declining the offer on the spot.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Because the whole company is a pyramid scheme. Think about it--they literally have NO financial investment in you as a new hire. They aren't losing any money because you aren't salaried and they don't pay for your training. If you are a successful salesman and manage to sell life insurance or whatever to your family and friends, great for them, they get a huge cut. If you are a complete failure and end up making no money, there's nothing at stake with them--they'll just hire new people. Avoid at all costs.
