Director of Web Development at Fisher Communications

Accepted Offer – Interviewed in Seattle, WA Mar 2008 – Reviewed Mar 19, 2009

Interview Details – An interview with the hiring manager, in a coffee shop. Then, a half-day of interviews in the office. Each interview was about 45 minutes. Most of the questions were how I would handle different situations, my development philosophy, and my work style. No questions about specific technical skills. I sensed they were more interested in my team fit and my personality, and less in my knowledge of technology X. The people were all great and had high energy. They were very passionate about their mission, and the industry and company norms there were going to change .

Interview Question – It's hard to remember... I think there was a question about how I would interact with the sales team. It was hard to answer because I didn't expect it, and I didn't expect it because I didn't see sales team interactions being a notable part of the job. As it turned out, I dealt with the sales team a lot, because of the small size of the group.   Answer Question

Negotiation Details – Fisher's pay is OK relative to the market, and their benefits are nothing to write home about. I was able to negotiate on vacation time, which was nice.
