Interviewed Mar 2012 in Boston, MA (took 2 days)
So the process started with a very simple test on Core Java. Main areas covered would be: bit manipulation, scope, exception handling.
I was asked the next day for an phone interview.
The details are:
1> Interviewer initially asked me queries on my current job and what exactly we are doing
2> He asked the following tech question then:
"Would a singleton instance need to be synchronized to ensure sequential access"? I said "Yes"
3> Then he asked me on providing a brief overview of Collections class in Java.
4> The interviewer than asked me about the difference between Vector and ArrayList. I pointed out that Vector is a legacy class and not part of Collections framework. Additionally, all methods in Vector are sync'ed while ArrayList is not sync'ed. The interviewer then specifically asked me about memory mgmt. To which I replied that ArrayList increases its size by (3/2+1) * original size. The interviewer than said that ArrayList uses Arrays.copyOf() while Vector does not, WHICH IS INCORRECT !! Both use Arrays.copyOf() method to increase the size. The only difference might be that Vector size increases by 2 times whereas ArrayList increases by (3/2+1) times.
I got a letter after 3 days stating that I won't be interviewed further.

Interviewed Aug 2011 (took 2 weeks)
Starts out like any prestigious job interview in this industry: screener test, phone interview, and onsite. The technicals are very advanced getting into nitty gritty stuff that not everyone uses, I'd rate it at a slightly lower level than my current job at a top-tier trading firm. Preparing for this job interview should get you in good shape for top-tier firms.
Look at interview questions at other big shops to get an idea. I made it to the onsite, I did very well, met with 6+ people before meeting the boss. All of these poeple focused on technical aspects. Did not click well with the boss and that was pretty much the end of it. Our discussion was very non-technical, he was looking for something in particular, looking at glassdoor I think it was salary and also my other personal commitments that turned him off.
Like any interviewee who thinks about his future, I am also interviewing the company to see if it was a good match. My overall impression of the company is that they do not invest in their people, I can tell just by looking at the office. Very plain, looks like an 80's style arrangement with cheap carpet and drywall and plain fluorescent lighting. Did not have that "aura" where you immediate realize there is some serious stuff going on here. Maybe 100 people in there but only 2 toilets good luck. Long drive to the middle of nowhere too, residential area, not much chance to network with people at other companies. I would've taken the job at the time given the circumstances, but I didn't feel that bad that I didn't get it. Much happier with where I am now. Also, contrary to the name, they do not appear to do any actual trading, so their P/L and hence compensation is bounded.

Interviewed Aug 2011 in Great Neck, NY (took a day)
I had 2 rounds of telephone interviews.
after that they called me for F2F interview.
Was given 3 hr written test ( directly writing programs C++ using Visual studio).
I did good on that.
first person (american) came and interviewed me, it was good, asked technical questions, he is positive,
sent another person ( Indian ), asked 2 analytical questions. I was able to answer 1 completly, other one I was given a hint, but the second person who interviewed me is more unprofessional, he should not have asked analytical quesions, I am a strong C++ developer, I already had 2 firm offers one from Citi and other from Wells Fargo, they should have asked questions relevent to my experience/resume.
the minimum ethics should be followed during the interview, I have attended several interviews, but this is the worst I have attended, most of the interviews are technical C/C++/Unix Internals/Threads etc.
what I noticed is , majority of developers are Indians ( which is not a good sign) , benefits, 401K max they match only 3%, not mentioned anything about the bonus in the benefits package.

Interviewed Feb 2011 (took a day)
I was given a test online. 16 questions / 30 min.
Some questions contained a big code, have to scroll down and up all the time.
Time yourself because there is no way to say how much time you have left.
Questions are very tricky and require preparation.

The first interview process Flextrade does is phone interview. HR will ask you a few questions on the phone. Once you pass the phone interview, you meet with a Staff and Senior Accountant and possibly the Manager. Overall, it was a good interview.

Interviewed Jul 2010 in Great Neck, NY (took a day)
Written test and interviewed people. What I would really like to interview with is the manager of the group I would be in. I was a bit tense and rushing despite appearing relaxed. Oh well.
