Well I was initially hired, I was hired for a cashier position. After a while, I had advanced up to assistant customer service manager. My store manager then approached me and asked if I had considered the customer service and sales manager position. At first I wasn't, but then after thinking about it, I reconsidered.

The manager called me in for an interview, asked me like 2 questions, and mostly told me about the store itself, he offered me a job on the spot. He only asked what my plan for the future was, to tell him my interests , and if i wanted a job if offered.

I applied online, and then called the Store Manager to discuss my qualifications and show my interest in the job. He asked me to stop by that afternoon, and to bring a resume. I interviewed with the Store Manager, and had a second interview scheduled with the District Manager the next day. After my meeting with the District Manager, I was offered a job. My interview was probably more extensive because it is a management position. I've noticed that interviews for hourly associates go much easier.

Negotiation Details
Don't settle for less than you are worth because raises are between 1-3%. If they are interested in you, they will give you close to what you are asking. Always know what you are willing to work for, and ask for more than that.

I applied online, and walked in to the store to follow up after about a week. I asked to speak to the department manager for the front end, and I introduced myself, and said I wanted to follow up on the application I put in. The manager said she intended to call me, but me showing up was just as good. I was able to get an interview. When I was at the interview, we went to the back breakroom to talk. My interviewer asked me stock questions, such as "Tell me about yourself" and "Describe to me your strengths. Describe your weaknesses." And then, "How proficient are you in math and computers?" She also asked me about my availability. I was given the job offer the same day, but I asked for 2 weeks before I started so I could give proper notice for my employer at the time.

I interviewed with the recruiter and was then sent to the District Manager and another store Manager. It was not a very indepth. They did not check references or even make sure I didn't lie on the application. They were in a bind and needed to fill a position ASAP. They would of hired anyone that walked through the door that said they had experience.
