I got a phone call from the department manager asking me to come in for an interview. I had one interview with the department manager and the department head. Very basic questions about background, education and job knowledge. They gave me plenty of opportunity to ask questions. They were both friendly, easy-going and personable. I felt at ease. The pay rate was discussed during the interview with no room for negotiation.

    Interview Details

I applied for this job straight out of college with no experience. The interview with the department manager was very informal. He asked me about myself and my resume. No specific questions about my knowledge of the subject matter or experience in estimating. Experience and knowledge in aspen tech software and detailed material take-offs would help anyone interviewing for this department.

I had my contact at the company inquire about the need for an intern, sent in a resume, and got set up with the contractor for payroll. My case is obviously a special one, so this review won't provide much insight for cold contacts, but rather shows the importance of networking at this company.
