Interviewed Apr 2009 in University Place, WA (took 1+ week)
I applied online and was called four days later by the Human Resources head to schedule an interview. I was told to walk through the door in the back in Apparel that said "Employees Only" and go into the first door on the right. The woman who interviewed me was very friendly and sweet and asked me various questions about where I lived, why I was going to school and why I wanted to work at Fred Meyer.
A couple days later, I went in to take the drug test. The person who conducted the test was the Apparel Manager, randomly. He had me swab the inside of my cheek and he put it in a plastic container.

Negotiation Details
I was able to negotiate based off of my experience in retail. Because I previously worked at Nordstrom, the manager of CCK gave me a little bit higher than minimum wage.
I advise working at Fred Meyer but not as a cashier in CCK. Anywhere but there is better.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview, a Group/Panel Interview, a Skills Test, a Personality Test, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Nov 2010 (took a day)
I was called and was told that they had a position open for a seasonal Fruit Basket Hostess (Its where you arrange fruit/candy baskets like the ones you see on TV) and was asked if I would be interested in Interviewing. The interview was probably 20 minutes with the HR lady, she explained the job, asked me to describe myself, and asked me about 5 behavioral questions. I was then interviewed by the Boss Boss, who gave me a drug test and told me that I would be receiving a call about orientation shortly.

Interviewed Sep 2009 in Seattle, WA (took 2 days)
I applied online and did not hear anything from them for approximately 4 months. They contacted me one day out of the blue and said that they wanted to interview me. At the interview I learned that this was for a temporary position through the holidays. I however knew that it would lead to a full time offer if I worked out. I had two interviews. One with HR and a second with the department manager the next day. Both interviews were pretty much the same interview that I have given on several occasions in other roles. Nothing out of the ordinary just a pretty standard interview. I immediately gave my salary expectations when asked (not before) and I was told what a more realistic salary expectation should be given the job I was going for. Honestly my impression was that the people who work there love their company and love the job but, I can tell it is not for everyone. It is fast paced non-stop retail and rarely do you get a minute to breath. You need to be ready for a full on retail experience day one there so if you have never worked retail it could be a bit much for some people if they are not used to it. Interesting side bar is their break room. It is a small oasis for employees and it is very nice. Dimly lit with couches and a TV and usually very quiet so that you feel like you got a break.

Negotiation Details
Was not able to negotiate. I was told that this was the maximum they could pay me for a starting offer. I had tons of experience so they offered me the top end of the range. I do not think given that their sales are down that they had much more to offer honestly.

Interviewed Oct 2009 in Marysville, WA (took 5 days)
Very informal 1 on 1 interview. I was told to wear nothing fancy and that tshirt and jeans would be fine. The LP manager was friendly and to the point. His office was clean and organized and he was very polite.

Interviewed Dec 2008 (took 3 weeks)
First a phone call, then a 'soft' interview to see if you are right for Fred Meyer, then an interview with a manager, then a final 3rd interview after a saliva drug test with corporate staff member. They run background checks as well. The process took awhile for myself - it was a long wait from the time I first applied to when I finally was hired until I worked my first day of training.
