Interviewed Aug 2011 (took a day)
Applied for the position in March, didn't hear anything until a call out of the blue in August asking me to fly to Arizona in three days for an interview. Everything was very well arranged and organized despite the short notice, making it pretty easy on me. The interview consisted of a 4 person panel asking mostly standard interview questions, then a tour of the facilities, and finally a group lunch with employees and other interviewees. Overall everyone was really nice, the interview was on the laid back side, and travel arrangements were organized and well communicated. After the interview I never heard from them again, neither a yes or a no which was very frustrating.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Green Valley, AZ (took a day)
I just did an interview with freeport, they have a perfect system you will be interviewed by hr and two people you will working very closely with. it starts off wit you describing your previous work experience, some questions are asked in regards to that and then the behavior test comes in.
in a work environment what is one thing you want from your supervisor?
what is something your confident in and something your not ?
was there a time someone disagreed with you and how did you handle that?
overall do your research on this company and ask questions yourself it looks really good when you know what theyre doing and you can talk about it. whatever position you interview for be sure to say things about that position and ask questions about it. i asked about the rock formations in the area
afterwards you get an awesome mine tour!! and i met everyone so hopefully i will be getting an offer

Interviewed Nov 2010 in Morenci, AZ (took 3 days)
It first started with a return call to one of FMI's recruiters. Then I spoke to the head of the Geology Department. He gave me very detailed information about where the department and the company were headed, their budget, reserves, and overall selling me on the position. Because the mine is in such a remote place, it was a three-day process: arrive on the first day; panel interview, presentation, lunch, concise mine tour and town tour on the second day; and leave on the third day. HR was very responsive and accommodating with making travel arrangements. They paid for my rental car, flight, lodging, meals, gas for the rental car, and mileage to and from my home airport. I actually made money by going. Even though I did not get the position, I am still grateful for the experience.
Some advice: if you are required to give a presentation as part of the interview process, wear a watch. There was a clock in the presentation room, but it did not work. Also, do not be afraid to ask questions. You should interview them as much as they interview you. Six to eight good questions shows that you are serious and that you have done research on the company. No questions is a bad sign for them and reflects poorly on you.

Interviewed Apr 2011 in Morenci, AZ (took 3 weeks)
Met on campus. Interview lasted about 45 mins. Asked basic situational/behavioral questions. Had a great time in the interview room. Felt comfortable with the interviewer. Was immediately offered an on-site interview. Answered my questions enthusiastically and as transparently, as possible. Got the impression that it is a good place to work for lots of challenges.

Interviewed Mar 2011 in Sahuarita, AZ (took a day)
The interview was a panel of one HR rep and 2 other managers. They asked many behavioral questions and then more pointed questions based on your answers. For this entry level position, the interview seems long, at nearly 2 hours.

Interviewed May 2010 in Morenci, AZ (took 1 week)
I received a call from the HR rep asking if I am still interested and then scheduled a phone interview. In the official phone interview, both the HR rep and my future boss were present. First, I was asked basic questions like "can you work in the U.S?" from the same HR rep. She described the position further and asked questions like: can you give an example of an ethical situation where you had to act, can you give an example of a safety situation where you had to act, what's a weakness, what's a strength?? Then, my future boss asked me questions about my experience with MS Access/Excel/CAD/Inventor. Not really technical, more like "have you worked with this? and if so what specifically? ok, cool." the only weird part was the long pauses that were after each question because both of them were writing down my responses.
I was notified I got the job two business days later. Thereafter, it was a long annoying outsourced background check that was followed by an extensive physical of everything (x-ray, lung capacity, movement, vision, hearing, urine, etc) done at a clinic near me. Only in passing these, I received an official offer letter letter at $21.50 (one of the higher paid internships at the site by two bucks) and then a housing form (free and surprisingly nicely furnished housing!).
