Interviewed Mar 2012 in Canton, OH (took 3 weeks)
First off they post a job posting that doesn't exist. They use this to get candidates to interview and offer them another position (example: upscale unarmed security officer). They call you and set up an interview date. You go in and fill out paperwork then have your interview. Basic interview type questions. Why should we hire you, etc. Now here is the kicker, unless you have corrections officer experience or your peace officer or military background then there is NO chance for advancement! Even with a degree, blah blah blah. And most of the jobs are low paying. All they want is someone who can pass a background check and will stay in the same low paying job and be happy with it.

Interviewed Sep 2010 in Orlando, FL (took a day)
The interview was very informal and easy. There is a 400 question physiological test that takes a very long time. Afterward you have a one week security coures. Finally you have a one week course on the x-ray machine, if you are working at the jail or courthouse.

Interviewed Aug 2010 in San Antonio, TX (took 3 days)
g4s in South Texas has one person who dose the interviewing and hiring. He works in Austin and drives down to San Antonio. He knows nothing about the military, although g4s says they have a close partnership with the military. G4s dose not care really who they hire. The people they hire can hardly write their own names. there was an incident recently were a G4s employee push a emergency all off button thinking it was for the automatic door and turned off all the power for a whole floor of servers. It cost the client $$ Millions $$ and a couple of days to get the servers back online. I mean come on it's a big RED button that says Emergency ALL Off (do NOT push)

Interviewed Jul 2011 in Phoenix, AZ (took a day)
I submitted my application to G4S for Custom Protection Officer in July, 2011. I met all of the pre-employment qualifications, with the exception of having a degree. The application process of applying in person is very time consuming, and then G4S only keeps the application for one month. I was not contacted for an interview and wonder exactly what they are looking for. Having served for 20 years in the Navy, served in the Military Police field, graduated from a Military Police academy, reserve deputy sheriff academy, and a state correction officer academy I felt that I was more than qualified for what they might have me doing.
After acknowledging the grooming standards of no beards I observed the General Manager with a goatee. This type of example reflects a "do as I say, not as I do" attitude. Maybe this guy didn't go out in the field but this sure was a negative reflection on managements behalf.

Interviewed Oct 2008 (took a day)
The hiring and interview process is very simple. All you have to do is go to their office where they will sign you in. You tell the front desk receptionist that you are looking to work with the company. The receptionist will then hand you have a test exam and you can go to your little cabin to write the exam. Once you have written the exam, they check whether you have scored above 75%. If so, the HR manager gets the file and interviews you on the spot in her office. If the HR manager likes you, you get the job. You take a few photos, fill out some forms and you are ready to go.
