Interviewed Aug 2008 in El Mirage, CA (took a day)
They fly you out to Victorville,CA. You get a rental car. You feel like you get lost on your drive out to El Mirage,CA. And when you think you are lost, you find out your almost there. The interview is a 1 on 1 deal. All in all it's easy. Though what they don't ell you is if you don't pass there testing for your position is that they let you go, even if you had already moved all of your family across the US to work there. So you better pass, or it's going to suck real fast.
Negotiation Details
Easy. They just tell you what they want to pay you, and you take it because the economy sucks, and you need to do this.
Other Details
I Applied Online and the interview consisted of a 1:1 Interview.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Poway, CA (took a day)
Though the actual onsite interview was 1 day, the interview process also included a phone interview with 3 guys at the other end (telecon) and 2 subsequent individual phone interviews. It was 2 1/2 weeks between the phone and onsite interviews. The phone interview consisted of typical interview type questions. The onsite interview was 4.5 hours, from 11:30 am to about 4 pm. I naively thought I'd be treated to lunch, but that didn't happen. TIP: It is suggested that candidates eat something just prior to the interview to avoid fading later like I did. The interview agenda started with a meeting with an HR person. This was followed by a tour of the expansive plant by one guy from the technical writing team, and then an interview meeting with a panel of 4 guys from the team. There was an Alpha male (AM) who did most of the talking. AM informed me that writers go to Palmdale/Lancaster (flight testing operations) for days at a time and asked if that would be an issue...I said "no". AM also asked me to draw on the whiteboard a PNP and NPN transistor and an OR gate. AM also asked me to describe the amplifying operation of the transistor. AM also asked insightful questions that included the following: What would you do if you won the lottery? What is the most Out-Of-Box thing you did at work? Following the panel discussion, I was lead to AM's office where I was asked to write a troubleshooting procedure for a inoperative wing strobe light (I was provided with a diagram of the system, and a paper pad and pencil). Also on the agenda was a 1:1 interview with what I believe to be the department head, but he was out...so I was then sent home. In my opinion the whole process was a bit of an ordeal.

Interviewed Mar 2012 in San Diego, CA (took 2 weeks)
had a phone interview for about 40mins~1hr. At the end of the phone interview I asked that if I am likely be moving forward to the next interview and was confirmed that I will definitely be asked for the next on-site interview. At the on-site interview, had an interview with an HR guy. He was really nice and motivated and encouraged me to join their company. After an hour long interview with the HR guy, had a group interview with three software engineers. Basically they asked about my projects and things on the resume. There were some other questions they asked but they were reasonable and straightforward. After another hour long interview with group of engineers, I took an hour long programming assessment. They said that it is not a test and it is only to see "how" you program, not "how well" you program. The assessment was very reasonable and a guy sits next to you for any questions you got. However, I think I screwed up on the programming exercise.

Interviewed Apr 2012 in San Diego, CA (took a day)
Applied online for several positions, got a call 2 weeks later for the Tech Writer III position and conducted brief phone interview. Called back a couple days later to setup a personal face-to-face interview down at the Poway, CA location. They paid for gas, hotel, and food for the trip down. Interview process took from 0930hrs to 1530hrs. Interviewed with 11 different people including two 4-person board panels. Long day. 1-on-1 interview was tough...board panels were great, very upbeat, friendly. Was told I would hear results in about 2 weeks.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Poway, CA (took a day)
Just going to describe the initial phone screen. Lady was nice but the interview was a little impersonal. Basically asked a bunch of standard questions first like what are your strengths, favorite classes, explain your internships, etc. Then went on to a few quickfire tech questions and said the results plus my resume would be forwarded along.

Interviewed Feb 2011 in Poway, CA (took a day)
Had a one-hour phone interview and was offered an internship the next morning. The three interviewers on the phone were all software engineers, and asked programming questions and logic puzzles. The logic puzzles were interesting to think through. When I was unfamiliar with terminology or specific coding details, they had no problem with that and guided me toward the answer based on concepts I did know. It was more for them to see how I think, rather than what I know (unlike some other software interviews I've done). Overall, it was a fun interview and the interviewers seemed very enthusiastic. HR was very helpful and personable.
