Interviewed May 2012 in Stamford, CT (took 2 days)
Two phone interviews led to a final round fly-out to GE Corportate Headquaters. Went out to dinner the night before with current FMP's and then had 4 1 on 1 interviews the next day. Quick and painless interviews asking your standard questions...Nothing technical

Interviewed Apr 2012 in Danbury, CT (took 3 weeks)
3 interviews over 3 weeks
(1) Phone interview with external HR. This is normally a 30-min interview but mine was cut short because the hiring manager saw my resume and was keen on meeting me. I had a phone screen for a different GE position and the questions were very geared towards the position to make sure that you can perform the job.
(2) In-house interview: 45-minute interviews with 5 individuals. Some interviews ran over so it was almost a 5-hour process. All behavioral questions as the interviewers were looking for a fit. I have a CPA and an MBA so they probably assumed that I know the technical accounting/finance stuff. Some questions include:
- Tell me about yourself?
- Why GE?
- Why this position?
- Strengths & weakness?
- Tell me a time when... ?
(3) Phone interview with GE's internal HR. 30-min phone interviews. Covered more behavioral questions and compensation expectations. Some questions include:
- Apart from learning the GE lingo and getting up to speed on how things are done at GE, what do you think will be the biggest challenge if you were to start this position?

Negotiation Details
Negotiated my base salary. It doesn't hurt to ask once. But I got the sense that GE does not normally engage in compensation negotiations.

I got the interview through an Employee Referral and the interview consisted of a Phone Interview, a 1:1 Interview, a Drug Test and a Background Check.

Interviewed Dec 2011 in Norwalk, CT (took 2+ weeks)
I completed the initial interview with Human Resources and an interview with the hiring manager. My resume remains "under review". A timeframe for making a hiring decision has not been established and the position has not been re-posted. The company recruiter that initially selected me for the interview expressed her frustration with the inertia of some of GE's hiring processes. I have stopped requesting updates from the recruiter.

This interview was strictly behavioral. Questions included:
Tell me about the most amazing thing you've done/a demonstration of excellence.
Tell me about a time where you experienced conflict.
Tell me about a time where you had to sell an idea or product. What did you do?
Tell me about a time when you had to do something (can be outside of school for work, extracurriculars, etc.) that you weren't prepared for/educated sufficiently at school.

Interviewed Nov 2011 in Stamford, CT (took 2 days)
I was referred to the position by a recruiter. The initial phone interview was relatively short. The position required someone who was bi-lingual so the interview was conducted in two languages. I admitted I was a bit rusty on my vocabulary in business and legal terms but that I could pick it up in a few days so long as I was submersed in the language. Conversationally, I knew I could get by but I knew there is a formal business and legal approach in Spanish (like in English) that one has to adapt to come across in a more professional demeanor. First person I spoke to was nice and their questions were straight and to the point. During the entire course of the phone discussion, they were working on something else and I could hear it (i.e. typing, being muted, muffled voice on the other side). I took it as they were incredibly busy (hence the need to hire someone), first time interviewing a candidate or some combination of the two. Either way I was indifferent. They ended the call indicating their manager would call me to talk to me as they thought I would be a good candidate.
A few days later the manager called. Questions were not as direct in my capabilities as they were more of behavioral in nature. I thought I answered questions appropriately and was advised that they were also looking at other candidates so that I would either get a response from them or from the recruiter. I sensed that was probably not a good thing. I use to work as a hiring manager and that use to be my typical response for a candidate that I thought would be good but may not be an ideal fit because they may leave for something else in less than a year. The manager never called back... I followed-up with the recruiter they never responded... not sure what the heck happened.

Interviewed Oct 2011 in Stamford, CT (took 2 weeks)
There's an on campus interview where you basically were asked behavioral questions. The program is considered prestigious and lots of corporate leaders come from it. The interview process is actually very interesting. Other recruiters I've talked to tried to make it a conversation but this recruiter actually asked a question and kept typing in things. She said later she would attach it to my profile online and be reviewed by other managers. They do try to get back to you asap and not hold you up too long.
The behavioral questions sometimes try to reach some hard topics to see if you can think on your feet such as ethics and values. But it gets easier towards the end with they why questions and backgroup chitchat later.

The starting time and sign up bonus. I would say be honest if you have other offers but since they are such a big company, it wouldn't do much.

Interviewed Apr 2009 in Danbury, CT (took 2 days)
A combination of styles: most were pretty standard interview - asked about past roles and experience. Two of the HR people asked really dopy questions about how I would share rope on an island or something. The HR people also asked questions like "describe a situation where you felt uncomfortable confronting your boss". The IT interviews were fine, but the HR interviews were very uncomfortable and unnatural.
Interview Questions
Reason for Declining
Very stuffy company and seemed very bureaucratic.

Interviewed Mar 2010 in Norwalk, CT (took 3 months)
Process moved in fits and starts. After initial phone interview, the hiring manager contacted me for an interview. This was followed by meetings with other group members within a few days. Subsequent rounds of interviews came at 2-3 week intervals. After about 6 rounds of interviews I never received a final response.
